We didn't have VIP tickets, but good seats, on the aisle, about 20 or so rows back. For two tickets with fees we were out about $500. I don't think I'll do that again. We've bought $25 tickets to see the Doobies in June. Now, that's my kind of ticket price!

I'd be hoping to go to the Dublin gig. I went to the first one there a few years back- the one that had to be rescheduled. I couldn't justify going again when the second Dublin show came round - for reasons already mentioned, set list similarities and price. We're planning to go this time as a family. Our 12 and 10 year old genuinely love Jeff's songs and I said to them if he every came to these shores again, we'd all go. I would love a set list change...even a little Hold On Tight or Confusion would do me. Its their first 'proper' gig together so it'll be one to remember for them hopefully, no matter if the set list is very similar to previous shows...It's a pile of money to pay, but once in lifetime for them. That's how I'm trying to justify the expense. From going with our parents this summer, nobodyschild and I can testify that seeing ELO as your first proper gig is definitely a night to remember! (Even if it's from the nosebleed seats! ) And truly could be once in a lifetime for them, since we don't know how much longer Jeff will keep touring. Perfectly justified in my opinion.

Jeff's ticket prices seem to be going up steeply every time he tours. I don't know if this is normal but it's very noticeable.
Since I don't go to many gigs it might pinch but I'd find the money to see him somehow. I just don't understand why he's leaving off Liverpool, it was sold out as far as I know the last time. I know it's bad to say but I'm not disappointed I can't see Jeff this year because I can blame him for leaving my venue off and not because I don't want to empty my bank account!

Could you not get the train down to Brum for the Sunday 11th date queenofthehours, the venue is within walking distance of New Street Station and there is a Premier Inn next to the station where Vlog and Helmut have stayed if you needed to stay the night.

I think the reason Jeff's ticket prices are as high as they are is that there's always so many days off on his tours, and this one is no exception. He rarely does 2 nights in a row, over the course of a week there's 4 at the most. Meanwhile the band and crew has to be put up and fed so the only way to turn a profit is to crank up the prices. But whatever makes him comfortable. In the David Crosby movie "Remember My Name" he's shown near the end of the film physically depleted, having to cancel the last few days of a tour because he says he "can't do five nights in a row." And he's older than Jeff and not exactly the picture of health, and also says he financially has to do it because he's "never had a hit" (which I guess is true from a solo career standpoint). But he also says he's driven to do it artistically. Fortunately Jeff's had numerous hits and is simply enjoying the process, hence the days off!

A quote from Jeff.
"The audiences in the UK and Europe were so good," says Lynne. "We're looking forward to bringing a new show and some musical surprises this fall. I can’t wait!"

I didn't know the arena in Birmingham was so close to the station. I will file this idea away for further use, thank you Horacewimp ! However at the moment I don't think I'm ready to experience a new city and a new venue all at once. It makes me feel disloyal to Jeff to say I have not as yet been to Birmingham and the idea of going to an arena bigger than Liverpool's is a little daunting as I thought that was huge! In fact, maybe this is why Jeffery isn't playing Merseyside, because the arena is dinky compared to the monster one at Manchester and ELO need plenty of coffers.
At least a quarter of my enjoyment seeing Jeff at Liverpool was because it gave me the excuse to see him in one of my favourite cities combining the Beatles and ELO in one day but sadly this is not to be this year. I'm sure Jeff doesn't organise his own tours so I can't blame him and he might be just as miffed to miss out on his Magical Mystery Tour.
I will probably keep complaining about this glaring omission in Jeff's schedule until the autumn but The Master could easily rectify this by including some acoustic dates as a bonus in-between the arenas. Could this be one of his "musical surprises"? I'm intrigued about this this supposed "new show".

There's 4 days between the London and Birmingham shows, and another 4 days between Birmingham and Manchester. It's already been speculated that a second night will be added in Brum, perhaps there's a possibility that Liverpool might be added in there too? Otherwise I figured that Jeff just wants to spend some time visiting home.

Cool,I didn't know that. Edit.... Although both words originated in the UK,the word 'autumn' is older (around 1300 first used) 'fall' originated around 1600. Also this...By the middle of the 1800s, American English and British English had diverged, and so had fall and autumn. One early American lexicographer, John Pickering, noted in his entry for fall: "A friend has pointed out to me the following remark on this word: "In North America the season in which this [the fall of the leaf] takes place, derives its name from that circumstance, and instead of autumn is universally called the fall." —John Pickering, A Vocabulary, or Collection of Words Which Have Been Supposed to Be Peculiar to the United States of America, 1816. Thanks for making me learn something new f4monty!
