I keep coming across gems from Parthenon Huxley, so I figured I'd start a thread to keep the Hux solo stuff separate from The ELO Part2 / Orchestra thread.
maybe I'll be the only one posting on this thread? that would still be ok
starting with a beautiful ballad from Purgatory Falls, written after the tragic death of his wife

Nice to hear Don't Bring Me Down played in a distinctive style.

Belief is such a sad song, but here's Parthenon singing about love in a really upbeat way. Like Jeff, Hux can write songs infused with a wide range of emotions. I also like the way each verse in this one shows a changing perspective.

Hux spent lavishly to promote his last album (100% sarcasm). He enlisted his neighbor to make this ad and his self-deprecating sense of humor comes through LOUD and Clear. Simultaneously a Prima Donna and a bit insecure about his place in the rock echelons.

When Rick turned 30, he changed his name to Parthenon Huxley - to show his love of Greece where he lived as a teen and Aldous Huxley - his fav author. I wonder if he’s regretted the move - like a bad tattoo. But it’s one of the most memorable names in Rock, which is what he must have been aiming for.

I know it's technically a song by The Orchestra, but I've always loved the following solo performance from its original writer: (I never get bored of sharing this clip - now if only Jeff would consider doing a similar acoustic set beyond those few tracks performed at Bungalow Palace with Richard a few years ago...)

a lesser known P Hux song, writing perhaps a little too transparently about sex really interesting guitar parts including a bit that reminds me of Jeff's Idle Race song, Hurry Up, John

a fun one - can totally see Hux forgetting about all the things he was supposed to do that day and coming up with this instead

going way back for this one - it's shows up as the closing track "Don't Worry" to his 1988 album, Sunny Nights but 1st, Hux did this with his college band The Blazers - this recording is from 1980 and the song may go back even a little earlier song title was a little longer then "Don't Worry About It"

Parthenon's Facebook page has some nice musical treats follow the link and you can listen to him working on Turn to Stone with a young violinist - "Mik" for the next generation? nice to think that Jeff's songs have such staying power that musicians still want to learn how to play them the violinist is Ben Hoyt and he went to Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore www.facebook.com/helle.huxley/videos/10215461459591446/UzpfSTEwODE2MjExOTM3MDcwNToxMzk3NDE1ODAzNzc4NjU3/there's also a video of he and Ken Stringfellow from the Posies performing 13 by Big Star

when eloandy covered Roy Wood's "Forever", one of the lyrics caught my attention: "up, down like a roller coaster" Parthenon is a fan of Roy's, and he has a really fun song called ... "Roller Coaster" check it out
