Ooo, I think the accordion would be great. I'm going to throw my vote in for mandolin, as it's one of my favorite instruments. I've tried to teach myself to play one, but I never got very far.

Jeff played an autoharp on Armchair Theater, so that's a bit different.
I'd like to see him give a go at the didgeridoo.

He should revisit some of the classic hits but play them on a kazoo, I little bit like this.

Horace - my dog looked up in alarm when I played the "Kazoo Orchestra".
but I think there's an Idle Race tune with some Kazoo, so I'm sure Jeff could pull it off. How about flute. Perhaps a little too Jethro Tullish?

Well then how about Harmonica? I'd like to see Jeff doing a Dylan on the 10538 Overture.

Well then how about Harmonica? I came in to say this, but you beat me to it. But if they include a harmonica, please play it better than Bob Dylan.

A number of the suggested instruments here go well together, too. The accordion, mandolin, and harmonica would all sound good together, I think. Hint hint.

and you know who would be the perfect musician to bring all these new sounds to the album ... Woody back to the future!

Helmut83! The 'ell you talkin about? Dylan is a genius on the hobo harp!

Dylan is a genius songwriter, and also lyricist, but on the harp he's pretty lousy. He can't even blow air through a single hole, which is the ABC of the harmonica. In terms of technique, any kid with two months of lessons on his back plays better than him.
That's what the harmonica has (and that's why it's called harmonica): if you manage yourself in the middle octave (it has three octaves) it will sound well no matter what you blow or draw, because the notes are placed to form chords. So anyone can play a few notes and make them sound OK.
Now, making it sound like this guy is a whole different story:

I think of jazz and blues when listening to him.

I think of jazz and blues when listening to him. Well, the harmonica is a very bluesy instrument so maybe that's why it sounds to blues, but I find Dylan's style on the harmonica to be more of the folky kind. Many folk artists use it to embellish their songs with a few harmonica notes without putting too much effort into managing the instrument more craftily. There's nothing wrong with it, of course, as long as they enhance their songs it's OK, but when you compare them to a harmonica specialist the difference is huge.

Of course, makes sense. Folk is his background. He was just more famous than others playing it this way.

The melodica is another wacky instrument that I bet Jeff could pull off well. It sounds a bit like a harmonica, too.
