"Last Train to London" is very challenging when it comes to bassline. "When time stood still" should be easier.

I think 'LTTL''s bass was artificially produced on a synth but it should be possible to get an approximation on a real bass. 'When Time Stood Still' is the most beautiful bass music Jeff ever wrote in my small opinion.

I remember Bev Bevan in an interview saying that Kelly Groucutt had had a lot of fun recording the basslines of "Last Train to London" and "Shine a little love".

The video to the song isn't very clear on this. It makes it look as if Richard Tandy is playing the bass on a keyboard and it's hard to tell what Kelly is playing. The bass riff does have a bit of a synthy tone to it I think. Perhaps there's a mixture of both real and synthesised bass on the track.

Do some keyboard stuff with my son playing drums and vocals. Occasionally pick up our bass and pick along to "Do Ya" (not too well though) played piano / keyboard on a purely amateur level for over 40 years now. Not great but I get by.

So what's going on, people, what's going on that you aren't uploading your videos about ELO covers? I think I'm the only valiant here who ever did that.

i keep pawning my guitar lol. i did play Nightrider the other week and theres a few chords i am not entirely convinced are right. but i will try to get it right and video it. i think what bugs me is that i have to sing it too. the chain smoking habit i have doesn't let me reach the high notes lol

I have played quite a lot over the years (Piano). Have got the music books to ole elo ANWR OOTB & Discovery. Just bought an Yamaha MOX 6 so hopefully when time (and the Missus) allow I'll be able to record some stuff. It's got a vocoder on it too !! May give Steppin' Out a go first.
