Metallica just covered Elton John's Funeral for a Friend. Wonder which ELO song they could give the metal approach to.

Rick Beato recently did an interview with Michael McDonald (who has some fans on the forum) I enjoyed it.
one of the funnier moments is when Rick mentions a SCTV comedy skit where Rick Moranis played the role of Michael going from studio to studio nailing perfect vocal takes. That made me think that these days, Beato could easily play the role of mature Michael. 2 silver haired music gems.

It's quite good. I came across it recently and really enjoyed it. MM is a class act, for sure.

Big Hall and Oates fan here. Although DH has created a few really great solo tunes over the years, very little of either of their solo efforts are as good as what came out of their longtime musical partnership. Sadly, that partnership is no more. This latest song by DH is cute, catchy, has his distinctive sound and vocal style, but still sounds fresh. It's a collaboration with Dave Stewart. I think it's a winner! At almost 78, Daryl still has a fantastic voice and has ( mostly) shed those goofy dance moves that always made me cringe. After looking fabulous and absolutely FINE for so many years, he's showing more signs of age, and his pretty boy good looks are fading. For 77, he's holding up pretty well. He held his own for years, though.

Being a true fan, I must give equal time to John Oates, who is grossly underestimated as an essential element of Hall and Oates' success..
Here he is, performing live last year in Nashville one of the songs he wrote on one of their early albums. He's still got that beautiful smoky voice and is ever the laid-back gentleman.
Lovely!

Rick Beato interviewed one of the all time greats recently - Alan Parsons I've got a few of his albums on vinyl and always appreciated the sound quality.
would Jeff ever agree to sit down with Rick? I sent him an e-mail requesting that dream interview. About a chance in a million I think.

Stephen Colbert often gets some very interesting musical guests.
Jessica Pratt is new to me. Her song feels like something that could have been in the soundtrack of an old Streisand movie, perhaps "On a clear day, you can see forever".

Orioles70 - last night I found myself at a Death Cab for Cutie concert in Cardiff and absolutely loved it.
Since you posted Pepper ive gone on to become a huge fan of two particular records. Playing them almost exclusively this year. Two records in question are Transatlanticism from 2003 and Asphalt Meadows from 2022. Last nights show was Transatlanticism played in full was a thing of beauty.
Thank you, for the gift you've given me this year. I would never gone down this Rabbit hole without your original posting.

anyone heard of this late 80s band before? I totally missed them

a really neat collaboration - Andrew Bird & Madison Cunningham (2024) reinterpretation of Buckingham & Nicks (1973)
on some songs Madison takes on the Buckingham vocal while Andrew does Stevie other songs have the reverse approach
and if you like that, here's a whole concert
