I've seen Ren championed by Justin Hawkins (from The Darkness) on his brilliant Youtube channel, and most recently this guy. Look at his young face and marvel at what comes out of it. Not a bad guitarist either for a 16 year old...

Going to see The Beth’s tonight- band out of New Zealand. I’m really happy that they came to Baltimore when even American bands often skip past us.
If you don’t know them, check out “Expert in a Dying Field” great song!

I love that song. The kid did a decent job covering it.

There's definitely some talent there. But can we please call for a moratorium on people covering Hallelujah?

Oh boy! Hall and Oates are having some "difficulties," shall we say..I guess these guys won't be touring anytime soon! So many funny song title and lyric responses in the comments section on news articles about this. www.cnn.com/2023/11/22/entertainment/daryl-hall-restraining-order-john-oates/index.htmlSay It Isn't So! Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid I can't go for that, no! No can do! (Daryl), You're Out of Touch (John), You're Out of Time You're a Rich (Boy) and you're going too far, 'cause you know it don't matter anyway... Private eyes, they're watching you. They see your every move! You get the idea! Daryl is a huge talent, with the ego to match. John is also quite talented, and recognizes his own contributions to the success of Hall and Oates, but also readily acknowledges DH's amazing gifts as a vocalist and his star power as a performer. John Oates is much more down to earth. We don't know the specifics of this situation, but it's about money, it seems. The pair have had their ups and downs through the years, but this is pretty bad!

Why is it always like this, you would think that as folk get older they should be wiser? We are seeing it with these two just as we see it with Jeff and Co.

Saw them once at Newport Centre ... they were great but it was end of tour and the band were incredibly bored...they had a ping pong ball which they chucked to each other whilst DH's back was turned and he was singing. The whole gig became about not getting caught, I thought it was just part of the act but it became more and more extreme.
he knew something was up and became more and more serious and came over like a right dick by the end of the night. Terrific voice shame really.

More details on the H&O dispute: variety.com/2023/music/news/hall-oates-restraining-order-solved-selling-share-primary-wave-1235808326/Egos aside, maybe they should step back and reflect that what they have created together is "Bigger Than Both of Us." ( Song and album title from the mid 1970s. ) Maybe Hall could just buy out Oates' share, but John probably would get a better deal from Primary Wave. Though they both have been active in recent years, they are in their mid-70s. John may be ready to retire (?), but Daryl is still working hard, touring and doing his web show. DH has a lot of distrust and resentment towards the business of music and entertainment, feeling like he had been cheated and exploited in the past. He is reluctant to relinquish control, so his response is predictable. It's a shame. I hope they work things out.

It points out how people age differently - some love their jobs and would work till they drop, others really enjoy stepping back and reaping the rewards of all those years of hard graft.
Lots of really high profile artists have sold the rights to their back catalogues recently so there must be good deals to be done, but if DH simply doesn't want to cash in and kick back that's his perogative I suppose.
