Electric Light Orquesta en Concierto en el marco del "XXVI FIUC 2021" Helmut83 - I've been practicing my Spanish. How bad did I butcher the explanation below? realmente, es La Orchesta con Eric, Hux, Mik, Lou mayor, Lou joven, Gordon y en la guitarra baja - Dave? Yo creo que Glen se perdió este viaje.

No tan mal, alumno Orioles. We'd typically say "Lou padre (father) y Lou hijo (son); and the bass guitar is just "el bajo" (literally, "the low"). The last sentence is perfect. I find it ridiculous that they translated just the word "Orchestra", resulting in a weird "Electric Light Orquesta".

Thanks Helmut. At 5 minutes a day on Duolingo, I'll be fluent in about 27 years.

In my opinion Duolingo is not a bad point to start at all. Fooling around with Duolingo I learnt a decent amount of Swedish -yeah, I know... I've wasted my time on a useless language it's my fanatism for Per Gessle what pushed me to do it-; though 5 minutes a day might be a bit too little. At 10 minutes a day -which is not insane either in terms of time- you'd double the pace.

Cliff Hillis is a prolific writer. Here's a nice one with an ELOish title and some vintage Merikan video:

so I learned that Cliff's wife, aka "Mod Betty", put that video for "Keep the Blue Skies" together. Cliff paid her back by writing a theme song for her Retro Roadmap site. The ultimate power pop couple.

Jeff Cooper posted this interview with Glen Burtnik on The Orchestra's FB page. It gets to The Orchestra at about the 18 minute mark. Mostly covers familiar ground, but it's rare to hear Glen sit down and talk for an extended period.

Glen's band The Weeklings put out an album last year, just in time for Covid lockdowns Here's the title track:

The Orchestra is en-route to a couple of private gigs. Here's to hoping they work the rust off their strings and announce some public events soon!

Cliff's fancy hound dog doesn't appear to be much of a music fan.

Just listening to yesterday's Pick of The Pops (oldies show on BBC Radio 2) on catch-up. This week the featured year is 1975, and they're playing Roy Wood's hit single "Oh What A Shame". I haven't heard this in years.

I just finished my first listen to The Weeklings “In Their Own Write” - a live album by Glen Burtnik’s Beatle’s tribute band. It’s terrific! Most songs are co-written by Burtnik/Burger but it has a couple of Lennon & McCartney tracks and a cover of “That thing you do” by Schlesinger (Fountains Of Wayne).
