I wonder if Rosie’s presence wouldn’t have been as much of a problem if she had stayed in the band. If she had played Hyde Park with ELO she would have been (almost) as much of an established part of the group as Richard Tandy.
It’s very hard to compare Zoom with Hyde Park. There’s more than ten years in between and ten years is a long time both for style and production.

the Zoom concert was wonderful and pleasant and i enjoyed the DVD. but Hyde Park, it was overwhelming that Jeff Lynne got such a massive crowd telling him they love him every 2 seconds. it depressed me when i first watched it on Youtube cos i wasn't there, but i have to say that i am so happy to the point of tears that he got all that devotion from such a huge crowd. All Over The World was tuned down to suit Jeff's voice and it sounded great. i usually hate when bands have to do that but it worked. and as much as i am an ELO snob. i was just happy that everybody is loving him when for years i was surrounded by my school mates who didn't have a clue who he was. or people older than me saying 'Yeah! ELO sound really dated now!' or Noel Gallagher at the height of his Oasis fame, coked out of his skull saying 'ELO are crap!' lol. it was difficult for years thinking 'this band are fucking amazing! am i alone thinking this?' Hyde Park pushed all that aside. Zoom was great but it still made you feel like a closet fan. Hyde Park was orgasmic!!!

Jamie, Keep in mind that many of the 50,000 that showed up in Hyde Park could have been closet fans themselves... and then proud fans for a day, in contrast.
