Since we can now tick two more hits played live for the 1st time, which other singles have not been played live? I can think of Horace Wimp, Ticket To The Moon, Xanadu, I'm Alive, Don't Walk Away, Secret Messages and Four Little Diamonds and Getting To The Point. Is that it?

Secret Messages made its first appearance on last year's ELO Live album and was supposedly recorded during a rehearsal for the Zoom Tour Live DVD concert shoot, so we can rule that out. Also, there are many (as-yet-unconfirmed) claims that Jeff would occasionally perform Ticket To The Moon alone at a piano early into the Time Tour. One thing we can be more certain of is that none of the Xanadu tracks - apart from All Over The World now, of course! - have ever been played live, plus a lot of the later singles have yet to make their stage debut, including Four Little Diamonds, Stranger and Getting To The Point. If you consider each of the songs from Discovery a single due to them all having their own promotional videos then quite a few of these can go on list as well, not to mention It's Over from Out Of The Blue.

I was using the UK charts only for reference, hence no 'Stranger'. Did you know that 'Train Of Gold' and 'Buildings Have Eyes' both charted in Poland?

Those two b-sides making an impression on the charts in Poland is one of the more bizarre ELO-related facts mentioned in the liner notes (which I'm currently in the process of researching) for my own "Deluxe Edition" of Secret Messages... can you imagine if Jeff had shot a video for those two songs to cash in on their popularity with the intention of promoting them in other countries?

It might be my memory playing tricks but I'm sure I remember Ticket To The Moon being performed at Wembley on the Time tour.

For some reason it cannot be said for certain that it WAS sang live, this web page also mentions that Jeff could have sang it as a solo act but no-one knows for sure. www.jefflynnesongs.com/timetour/

Although the various Time Tour bootlegs I've heard all suggest the setlist was fairly consistent (apart from the later substitution of Here Is The News with The Way Life's Meant To Be when this was issued as a single), I've yet to hear one that doesn't have a gap somewhere - usually during Mik's violin solo. Also, because the majority of recordings come from the 1982 European leg, it's still possible the countless recollections of Jeff performing Ticket To The Moon earlier weren't just the result of several people imagining this song... I'm equally curious to know whether the Wembley '81 shows were really filmed, as I'd love to finally see something from this era.

On ELO part 2's greatest hits tour, they played Getting to the point with Bev Bevan preceding the song with a speech on what the song meant and what a great man Jeff Lynne was and how much he admired him. PS, ...liner notes Shard Ender! This is getting good!:-)

If we do get a tour from Jeff then it would be great if he played Surrender, Latitude 88 North and Point Of No Return as none of these deserve to be on the list, though was the latter technically a hit?

I'm Alive has never been played live. Not sure I'd want it to be, either.

Surrender was the only one that ever charted. Point Of No Return was never a single per se, not even a promo single like One Day as far as I know.

Just to update this thread, we can now eliminate 'Xanadu' from the list...
