Agreed, we've been wondering whether to give Cologne a whirl so thanks for the review and brilliant pics Horacewimp. Lovely shots of the race track too - looks like it was well worth the trip despite the mosquito episode. Thanks for going to the trouble of sharing them all, really enjoyed scrolling through them

Great pics, especially the cathedral. Id love to go to Germany if only for the beer and sausages! Love a leffe myself and again .... I’m thinking of planning a German road trip maybe next year, would probably following the Rhine up from Frankfurt taking in some bigger Cities such as Cologne/Bonn/Düsseldorf on the way, if we drove from the U.K. I’d also do Bruges/Ghent/Antwerp. Something I’ll need to sit down and really plan. I had a curry wurst in Cologne

I can confirm that Bruges is lovely, don't miss the pub/shop that has a whole corridor of beer Ghent is also really interesting and picturesque. Unfortunately if you go anywhere near Antwerp there seems to always be a massive traffic jam for no reason. Well, it was like that for us anyway.

What lovely photos, Horacewimp . Such impressive structures, and great views of the waterways. I especially like Mr Telford's aqueduct, "the stream in the sky". And the welcome signs for both countries!

I've learned about Telford from watching all the narrow boats programs, and I've seen a lot of these magnificent waterways. God, the beauty.

Amazing pics once again Horacewimp - thanks for posting Keep promising myself a trip to see the aqueduct in the sky one day, looks well worth it. Maybe not in an actual narrowboat though, you'd need a very steady hand on the tiller which I don't think I'm blessed with

Wow, thanks for posting those brilliant pics, Horacewimp. I love Lisbon and these have reminded me why. Nice to see you snapped the famous 28 tram and some spectacular squares. Also top marks for scaling the castle - we were too stingy to pay to get in. Did you find the restaurant up behind the castle which is like the inside of a tram? I expect you scoffed your weight in pasteis de nata, it's obligatory of course for all tourists, yummy!

I didn’t see the tram restaurant unomusette but we did have plenty of de nata, they had them at the hotel restaurant breakfast buffet so we would snaffle a few for throughout the day.

What a beautiful city! Had to do a double take when seeing the bridge like the one in San Francisco. Went and searched for info about that massive monument shaped like a ship and it's called Discoveries Monument.

Don't forget, Lisbon lovers - Lidl now do reasonably priced pasteis de nata in their in store bakeries - result!
