Jeff said in interviews that he had rerecorded more of ELOs hits and that he had enough for another album.
If you could have a Mr Blue Sky Volume 2 album, what tracks would you include, mine would be
Shine a Little love Hold on Tight Wild West Hero Twilight Last Train to London Calling America All Over the World Confusion Sweet Talkin' Woman

1. Summer & Lightning 2. Jungle 3. Midnight blue 4. The bouncer 5. Wild west hero (without the annoying honky-tonk intermezzos) 6. Everyone's born to die 7. Boy blue (pop version, without all the orchestal interludes). 8. Down home town (country version, with double bass, banjo, harmonica and, again, without those pointless bridges and stuff) 9. On the run 10. Buildings have eyes
Bonus track: "Dark City", full version.

Off the bat, would like to hear what he would do with Queen of the Hours - and I think this will make our queenofthehours very happy!
Waterfall would be nice.
So would Tightrope.

Wow, that would be great to have another one of those. I don't care what anyone says, those takes were fresh and welcome and important on the "Mr. Blue Sky" album.
I can actually enjoy "Don't Bring Me Down" on it, the original is drum-machine brutality. Same with "10538 Overture", the Roy Wood instrument was way too over-bearing on the original, he toned it down just right on "Mr. Blue Sky".
He didn't ruin any of the songs on "Mr. Blue Sky", he just perfected them further, there is not one track on there that leaves me begging for the original, the originals leave me begging for the "Mr. Blue Sky" versions because they are clearly superior, and I'm dead serious.
I don't care what the ten takes are on the next one, and I hope he really does another one, but if the first batch are any indication, they will be totally awesome, and clearly superior to the originals, with all respect to the originals, for sure.

I'd like to hear what he'd do with the whole of the first album (plus maybe the second album too) if he could re-record the songs with his extra production experience. Maybe Jeff could have a go at Roy's vocals too or even add full orchestral strings.
An updated 'Illusions in G Major' would be worth hearing as would a less 80s sounding Balance of Power.

An updated 'Illusions in G Major' would be worth hearing as would a less 80s sounding Balance of Power. Have you seen that "Illusions in G major" seems to have an "unclean" sound? The voice has too much reverb, the lead guitar too much distortion and in general the sound is a bit messy, as if you were hearing it from an old radio.

With all due respect to Mr. Lynne: I would forcefully include 13 antimatter tracks to magically cancel out the re-recordings of the first compilation while heroic music plays in the background... punctuating the heroic nature of the act.
I still have yet to make it through the entirety of Mr. Blue Sky. The re-recorded tracks are to these ears what the CGI infected re-cuts of the original Star Wars movies (hell, most modern movies) are to the eyes: completely unappealing.
... some of us are big fans, but not to the point of loving or even liking all newly recorded material.

The problem with Lynne's recent productions is that the actual sound of them is (more or less) uniform and predictable to the point where it wasn't hard to accurately guess or imagine what the "new" batch of albums and bonus tracks would sound like before they were released.
I'm probably no more a fan of mid to late '80s production than you are or anyone else is, but at least Balance of Power had a distinctive character and didn't closely resemble any other album in the back catalog sonically.

Don't get me wrong, Helmut. I'm not against re-recordings in principle, but simply do not care for the way Mr. Lynne's sound or have sounded thus far.

I have to agree somewhat with you Rob on the recent new material Jeff has released, it is all same same.
However I do think he did a good job on recording the ELO songs again for Mr Blue Sky album. Ok they are not the original songs but they do add a different depth and angle on the tunes.

Life wouldn't be life without differing opinions, preferences and views. The positive part of me hopes that many would-be fans responded to the album in a similar manner, but the incurable cynic thinks it very well could have given the wrong impression and turned a lot of people off to ELO's material.
With that said, maybe it simply isn't reasonable to hope (much less expect) any artist to "recapture" what the much younger version of themselves did in an entirely different era with equipment that may not be available to them any more. 'Who knows.

i would like him to pick songs that are not hits. Buildings Have Eyes would be good if he did another version of that. i could see that being a hit. Take Me On and On would be good. in fact he said in an interview not long ago that he really liked that tune. any 80's stuff would benefit cos of minus dated keyboards sounds.

Uh oh... in a good or bad way ? You must have a track listing of your own, right?
