how many units did zoom shift, I appreciate the difference in chart position but there were a whole lot more albums being sold in 2001 weekly... what is the difference between the last two albums? Not sure we ever got to know the zoom units but, the AITU unit numbers have started coming out. I guess these are important if he is ever to have this kind of exposure/interest/choice to release again.... In the UK AITU has just gone Gold after a few weeks (100,000 units). In something purporting to be the the world chart they say he sold 110,000 total sales (including UK) in the first week, 58000 in the second... more good news - All Over The World went Triple Platinum last week Slightly surprised that after all those weeks in the top 10 ELO at Hyde Park does not appear to have even gone gold (25000)...especially when the zoom concert went platinum.

I had the album playing at work, and when One Step At A Time came on, one of my co-workers came over and asked who it was. They were impressed enough to ask me if I could upload it to their iPhone. And this is a 23 year old girl who regularly listens to Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus! Jeff, winning over the younger generation, slowly but surely.

That girl has taste ...despite all the headline nonsense that is needed to propel someone these days, Taylor Swift and her team write great songs and make great records. Listen to the Ryan Adams take on her album of 1989 to show what good songs they are.... I had my 30-year nephew ping me to tell me he had 'discovered' ELO and couldn't stop listening to them recently

Hmm, they disagree slightly with lyrics as per the disc booklet, and do we concur that "The Sun Will Shine on You" is his finest ballad since "Telephone Man"?

One of my friends a good few years back was singing the T Rex song as Telegram Man, when we told him the proper title he seemed shocked

True, the attention is good. And a positive review is no harm!

Nice to have a positive review, but sweet blue tapdancing jesus, how about checking for accuracy before publishing it? "When We Were Fab"? "just wanna scream do you love me baby"? "Telephone MAN"? And does anyone listen to "All My Life", and think it sounds anything at all like "When We Was Fab"?

I'm not sure of how many copies Sony originally pressed up, but Amazon claims to have sold out its stock of the Deluxe Edition of Alone In The Universe, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get a second run very soon... Clearly someone underestimated just how popular ELO still is, with this album selling more than any other since Secret Messages!

To be fair this album has had a lot more publicity than I can remember for any of the last few ELO albums. The last one I recall getting any mainstream publicity is Discovery.

The advertising has been brilliantly done, with R2, the cornerstone of it all. It seems like he has been on british tv every week since release ...mostly playing when I was a boy!
