....aka What Was He Thinking?!"
We all love and respect Jeff Lynne, but let’s admit it, he has written some “not quite up to mark” songs. God love ‘im. So here’s your chance Forumhead’s to stop screaming into that pillow and let it out! If you write a small explanation for your choice, that would be great! It can be as short as one word.
Please keep it light-hearted - don’t want Our Hero skittish about putting out his next album and touring!
Same as Helmut83’s poll: “Points will be assigned to them according to their place on the ranking: 1st place receives 10 points, 2nd place 9 points and so on until 10th place receives 1 point. Once we have many votes I'll make a provisional general ranking with the total points each song has received from different users.” (Whatever that means. )
Have fun! smiley-cool15

@brax's list isn't bad, except for "Surrender" IMO.
I'll have to excercise my memory a bit, as the ones I dislike most are the ones I tend to forget about because I don't listen to them much.
I can't imagine an explanation as short as one word, except for the word "sh*t".
BSJ: you better start finding out what that means because you'll need it for the tortuous process of vote counting. In the meanwhile, go telling tk6 that for a few days you won't be able to spend time with him. Muahahaha...

Even the worst of ELO, is still better than the best of Nickelback..but here we go...
The Battle Of Marston Moor- Roy Wood's song sounds like some bizarre fantasy roleplay set to music.
Secret Lives - It sounds like someone decided to record their kid playing his shiny, new synth for the first time. Having said that, I do think the remixed version improves greatly on the original BOP version.
All She Wanted- If Jeff Lynne wrote a song for Shania Twain, this is what it would sound like.
Another Heart Breaks - Plodding.
After All- Filler music of the worst kind.
Mandalay- It goes on and on and on....
Manhattan Rumble- Sounds like a rejected outtake from the soundtrack to West Side Story.
Baby, I Apologise- Jeff's voice on this one is incredibly annoying.
The Fall- As bad as the movie it's featured in.
Rockaria!- My least favorite hit. Generic.

This is going to take some thinking about for me. I don't actually believe there is such thing as a bad ELO song - just songs which haven't had the same chances as the more popular tunes!

Before I open the cheap white and begin the "painful process" here are mine.
1)Midnight Blue: Elevator music. 2)It’s Over: When? (“It’s over” is sung at least 30 times.) 3)Painted Lady: Very rare I’ve listened through this whole song. 4)Need Her Love: Last dance at a high school prom. 5)Wild West Hero: I will get a slipper spanking for this from my better half. Yeeeee! Hawwwww! Some clever lyrics, I’ll give it that at least. 6)Standing In the Rain: Thought Lord Damey had more sense than that. 7)New World Raising: Shaky. 8)Loser Gone Wild: Thisclose to skipping. 9)Jungle: Chooka chooka hoo la ley. 10)Wishing: Filler.
HONORABLE MENTION* Mr Blue Sky, why!? WWHT!?
Because it’s been a long time since I listened to them, I didn’t pick any songs from No Answer or ELO II.
*This is for my main man Helmut. Though I should not have because he's being such a brat!

Great @chippa, just great, (All She Wanted- If Jeff Lynne wrote a song for Shania Twain, this is what it would sound like.) Ruin the song for me, why don't ya!
Horacewimp - Roll Over Beethoven? It's always the last song. Does this mean you'll leave while he's playing this to beat the rush??
Horacewimp - Chippa's doesn't change.

Horacewimp - Roll Over Beethoven? Does this mean you'll leave his concert while he's playing this?
Horacewimp - Chippa's doesn't change. I would leave the concert if ROB is played as the encore at least then I will be the first to get drinks in at the bar while there is no queue BSJ you mention Down Home Town but it's not on your list Chippa is sneaky you have to spell his name chippaa

Reading BSJ's list is like owning a herd of cows which are sacred to you and discovering that she is hidden behind a bush while shooting at several of your cows with an air rifle. Well, that metaphore wasn't really inspired from a poetic point of view, but I think you get what I mean.

Hahaha...
Yes, you've got to give her some credit for that honorable mention of "Mr. Blue Sky", although that means no points for that song. Don't worry, you can count on it being on my list, and not at # 10.
