eloneenI believe a number of ELO songs were used in that movie. You must have a gift! Brussel sprouts are the only vegetable I've never particularly cared for. orioles70I love the idea of Lego ELO spaceship! The pumpkin dish sounds good, too.

tightrope That was not a pie-induced dream. That was real! And unless you're talking about taking the pie out of the packaging and putting it in the oven lol , no, I don't bake his apple pies. Someone else will be bringing desserts to our family's feast tomorrow, so no worries! Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

one of the DJ's on my local station does what he calls "free from radio" - 20 or so songs all of a theme this weekend was songs about the Autumn Season first one up had all these strings, sounding very ELOish the lyric that sounded like it was from Alone in the Universe - "When the Night Comes"
on YouTube I found a short clip, P Hux is the band, and it is the right song but haven't found the full song anywhere

ok, I found the song not being one of the "cool kids", I didn't realize that P. Hux is actually Parthenon Huxley (aka Rick Miller) at one point he was in ELO Part II and then the Orchestra, P. Hux is his own project the song that played on the radio is called "The Air Gets Colder", track #13 on the bands web site - give it a listen www.parthenonhuxley.com/musicbest part is, he lives in Maryland, so I might be able to see them play live!

Tidying old newspapers this morning, spotted a quiz which included the question: "In which county was the Battle Of Marston Moor fought?" And I got the answer wrong. Oops! Sorry queenofthehours and Timeblue .

I think you'll find he said: "No ta - a gain."
Some people just won't take advice on betting, will they?
(And don't make me come and clean your ears out with a clog.)

queenofthehours. There is no mention why he used these titles. Do you know?

looks like he used the Zoom title before Jeff did, but 3 common titles can't be a coincidence
on the one hand Armitage was 14 when ELO's Out of the Blue album was released, so you can imagine it having a big impact on him but the Amazon description says he wrote it after the 9/11 attack - planes arriving "out of the blue"
Xanadu was written in 1992, so he could have remembered the movie. But Xanadu was also in Coleridge's Kubla Khan poem, which is a vision in a dream - much like the Eldorado album.
so I dunno - either Armitage is a fan of Jeff, or a kindred spirit, or both

Last night watched the Christmas episode of The Great British Baking Show and at the end children sang Roy's Christmas song. Roy was there with his band performing the song. Disappointing they only showed fast glimpses of him. I thought what a waste. Anywho fun to see him.
Don't enjoy the heighten intense last minute stressful freak-out atmosphere they create. Make's it hard to watch.
I love Noel.

Abso-bloody-lutely Jeff is today's Mozart, Beethoven, and Debussy all rolled into one. It's too bad more people don't realize that. I think most of the world's population have lost the ability to appreciate music, and those that still can think only highbrow music is any good.
