My wish would be for Walsh to sing / play on a couple ELO tracks.....Maybe the Battle of Marston Moor or Kuiama? Or they could duet on a mashup of Walsh's Turn to Stone, and ELO's Turn To Stone.

Or maybe they could duet on Beatles Forever, given Jeff's inspiration from that band and Joe being Ringo's brother - in - law.

if he does join them, RoB as it is a standard cover that will need no work before hand and he can just fill in one of the solo's

As I missed the last tour because I didn't want to shell out a fortune for tickets to a gig that was pretty much exactly the same as I'd seen previously . I'd like this to be a precursor to a full tour. I'm ready now!! lol

If I could be assured that the JLELO set list would be different (more than 1 or 2 songs) than what I saw at Wembley or DC in 2019, I would be convinced to get a pair of tickets. But since the gig is only 3 months away, I suspect that the JLELO set list will be close to the last tour in 2019. My wish would be for Walsh to sing / play on a couple ELO tracks.....Maybe the Battle of Marston Moor or Kuiama? I know you're joking about Kuiama, but I'm trying to imagine Jeff playing an 11 minute anti Vietnam war song to a crowd of aging Vietnam war vets. He might get a few cell phones tossed at his head. I get better images if I think about Joe taking lead guitar duties on Ma Belle or Do Ya and Jeff letting him go a little wild with the solos.

Those two songs would be good for Joe to join in, but it would also be great if Jeff would join Joe's set and play guitar on one of Joe's songs, like Life's Been Good. That would force Jeff to play/learn a new song from what he has played many times before in his own set.

I'd like this to be a precursor to a full tour. I'm ready now!! lol I guess that's the jeopardy, will it be the same old same old? I was at Wembley in June 2017. Great gig. Then I saw him in Washington, DC, in 2019. I walked out halfway through (an unimaginable idea for my younger self) because the set was virtually identical to the Wembley one (including the video effects) and I felt I wasted money. And given that his last two albums are essentially solo albums, I now look at his latter day efforts as being cash grabs (and I won't go into the Wembley book either, which I refuse to purchase).
So, there is risk in going to the gig if you are only going to see JLELO. I'd spend money to see the other bands, but not primarily for JLELO. And Joe is touring with the Eagles and I haven't seen them live since Hell Freezes Over. Literally. 1994. That is of interest.
Now, if Jeff's management would issue a press release saying that it is a refreshened set list and entirely new special effects set up / an ENTIRELY NEW experience, then I may be tempted. But I haven't seen such a release.

Be lucky he's doing this one gig. Jeff isn't going to re-learn the entire ELO discography for a tour that's never happening. lol. Stop it.

Jeff should have diversified the set list from 2017 onwards. Just one or two tunes each show and by the end of each tour you would have had a rich and varied set list. If Jeff could guarantee I'm Alive, Don't Walk Away and Diary Of.... for this show then I'd definitely go (these are the UK hits that have never been played live)

You always seem to try to see the negative. The 2018 and 2019 tours were essentially designed to bring The Wembley or Bust Show to Europe and America. There is no denying that both the band and the stage effects were terrific. Jeff Lynne indicated in early 2020 that some new things would have been considered for the then canceled FOON tour. Also, I'd like to remind you that ELO is not necessarily the name of a band and can also be seen as a musical concept or atmosphere. The first ELO album wasn't a band album at all by the way. By contrast the second one really showcased the band and the virtuosity of the musicians. Later on, there still were band rehearsals, where the group members learned Jeff's new songs, and it's true thatJeff welcomed ideas from his bandmates at this stage. But in the studio it was no longer a band approach ( but not a solo approach either). Zoom, AITU and FOON are more or less solo efforts. As much as I'd love to see Jeff work with his new band I think there is nothing wrong with that. Mind you, another favourite artist of mine is Joseph Mount. He basically does the same thing with his project Metronomy: Some albums are solo efforts, others feature a band, and nobody seems to care.

I prefer to look at my negative comments as observations, because Jeff always seems to bring the two together. Unless he wants his fan base to simply love everything he does, no questions asked. "And by the way, John Q. Public, open your wallet for me. So what if you need to buy two or three versions of each album to get all the bonus tracks."
Bringing the 2017 Wembley show to the USA in 2019 sounds like sheer laziness to me. Maybe it was designed to tie in with his book centered on that gig. I was rather amused by the Wembley book, though.....ELO did not release a book in 1979 focused on the 1978 Cleveland gig (which reportedly is the largest attended single concert ELO performed).
It all comes down to expectations at this point, given his age and health. I'm expecting the San Diego show to be a one off, although that is rather interesting because he refused to headline a certain one off gig at a location named Knebworth in 1979 when he was only 32 years old

With all of the musical legends like Tina Turner, Tony Bennett, Robbie Robertson and Sinead O'Connor leaving us in the past few months, we really need to appreciate the ones who are still with us. Whether this is Jeff Lynne's last live show or not, I'm just happy that he's above ground and breathing.
