I have gone through my old vinyl collection and picked not necessarily the best but an assortment of 40 songs, we will vote on these to find which is the best. I have not included any ELO or related acts in my selection so don't be disappointed when non appear. As I am much younger than I appear many of the selections are from the 80s I don't apologise for this I can't help when I was born So without further ado here are the first four songs begging for your vote, you can vote for TWO songs and the top two will move into the next round.

This looks fun, Horace, thanks for creating the poll.
Out of these four, I've gone for David Bowie and Depeche Mode.

Looks like the playlist from a shitty independent station such as heart or absolute. Good artists but not their best songs....

Not my favourite Bowie song or era. I love Depeche Mode and have 'New Life' on 7" but I prefer 'Just Can't Get Enough'. Have to go with Kraftwerk because without them the 80s would have never happened and The Clash because whenever I get the opportunity to vote for Joe Strummer I will.

Like I said, four immense acts there and I went for DM and Kraftwerk just because I love electronic and synth music (no Kraftwerk no OMD)I could have easily gone for the other two though....

I think I've heard Let's Dance so many times familiarity has bred contempt. And although the Clash played an important role in musical history I find this song quite irksomely dull, the same with their version of Should I Stay or Should I Go. Luckily however I love the other two songs so my vote mirrors Timeblue's

Let's Dance is insanely fun in my book! I'm not as familiar with the other songs, so I'll just vote for Bowie.

NOT a fan of electronic and synth music. David and Clash.

I haven't heard a ton from Depeche Mode, but so far everything I've heard I've liked, New Life is no exception so it gets my vote. My second vote goes to The Clash, though it's not my favorite song of theirs... I'll have to argue with unomusette over calling Should I Stay or Should I Go "dull"...

Good choice Vlog, so have I. i would have liked to vote for Kraftwerk because I like a lot of their stuff but the Kraftwerk song is boring so I've also gone with David Bowie and Depeche Mode because Let's Dance and New Life have the most "pep" of the four songs.

Bowie is easily first choice. I’ve also gone for the Clash for my second—and Should I Stay or Should I Go is not boring

This is a great idea, Horacewimp. I've always had a soft spot for the The Clash, so they're my first pick, with Let's Dance being my second.

Mr Bowie and Kraftwerk for me. I'd've preferred China Girl, but anything from the Let's Dance album is ok with me. To be honest, it's the only DB album I'd listen to. Kraftwerk? A band of robots - BUT - they're still playing and have a loyal following. And, I like The Model
