Well, it was brought up here a while ago, and being the connoisseur of “weird” food that I am, of course that meanz I’ve been trying to get my hands on some ever since... My search had been entirely unsuccessful at the stores near my college campus, so I wasn’t really expecting anything better from the grocery store in my tiny hometown. But after looking around for ages cos the store had evidently found it necessary to put the various types of canned beans in three different aisles—there they were! The unmistakable blue cans! I rushed over and grabbed some... I had finally acquired the Beanz! Determined to do things properly, I then marched down to the tea aisle to find something suitable for a morning cuppa—and just about fell over when I saw all the other imported goodies that the store had also been carrying all along without me knowing. So, yes, after convincing the rest of my family to try it, we had beans on toast for breakfast the next morning. It received mixed reactions; I loved it (as expected), and to my surprise, so did my mom. nobodyschild had been pretty skeptical about the idea of eating beans for breakfast, and all she said afterwards was “it’s interesting”—she still hasn’t given her final verdict as to whether she liked it or not. My dad, though, was less than impressed... I guess there’s just no helping some people.

Don’t forget to dunk the end your digestive biscuits into your Yorkshire Tea so they go soft, as kids we were brought up on beans on toast it’s now a comfort food.

I was just wondering about beans on toast a day ago, or so. Any type of bread over others and I'm thinking the bread should be well toasted? I'll have to refrain putting mustard in the beans, as I always do. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, don't want to muck that up, so will try this for lunch.

I liked the biscuits (dunked in the tea, of course) even though I am a coffee person. The beans on toast were...interesting. Jury’s still out.

I am ashamed of myself as a half-Britt, because I have never tried beans on toast! I will have to remedy that soon. Since my mom's side of the family is from England, my uncles and grandparents knew where to find the UK imports in our area. I've had Branston Pickle, Marmite, pickled onions, digestive biscuits, jaffa cakes, Smarties (not the tart things they call Smarties in the US, these are sort of like M&Ms, but better), Flakes, Crunchies, Aero bars, Jelly Babies, Quality Street candies, PG Tips tea, and a few other things we were able to find here. I enjoyed all of it, but unfortunately I can't eat most of it anymore, because of my medical condition. My grandma was also a good cook, and she made things like meat pies with HP sauce, and traditional Christmas pudding. Grroosss nobodyschild I am glad you got to try some new foods! Dunking your biscuits in tea is the only way to eat them. If you want an interesting British food challenge, try some Marmite on toast, if you can find it! It's a bit of an acquired taste, but I liked it. The key is to scrape a very, very thin layer onto the toast. Don't pile it on like you might with jam, or it will make for a really unpleasant experience.

Any bread is ok toast normally, butter it well and add the beans on top. Don’t add mustard that would spoil them I sometimes add a splash of Worcester Sauce.

I'd say it's fine to add anything you like to the beans, curry powder is one of my faves when the beans are part of a plate meal eg with sausages rather than on toast. But the most important thing is that the beans must be nice and hot. Lukewarm baked beans are quite repellant. Mind you, there are people who eat them cold out of the tin. My mother does this and the very idea makes me shudder

I did wonder if you need to butter. I shall try it plain with W Sauce and then with curry. My food needs to be served very hot. Though it really doesn't taste any different, I can eat beans cold, but I don't like the feel of them. Thanks, you two!
