Wow, I love the new song so much! It has a very classic ELO sound for sure. I must say that the title "Songbird" has certainly piqued my interest too, surprise surprise! I am very excited to hear the new album in its entirety. Now, off to preorder my copy of "From Out of Nowhere."

Loving the new song, took me a few plays though so its a grower.
The album cover is an animated lenticular cover. I’m guessing that’s like 3D or something so it may look a lot better in hand.

In the end, many song titles ended up being quite similar to the one ones in AITU. Love and Rain/Down Came the Rain; I'm Leaving You/Losing You; All My Life/All My Love; One Step at a Time/One More Time. I just hope they get to be different. Jeff never disappoints.

Unlike the 6-track promo sampler now in the hands of select radio stations, which has a static printed cover, the ship on the final album does indeed supposedly come to life if you move it around a little... This is going to look especially great on the vinyl edition!

looks like the working title "Wi-Fi" woman changed to "Sci-Fi" woman
I'm looking forward to hear the lyrics on that one.

album artwork - now that would have been a great ending to Grosss and Nobody's Child story if Jeff had asked them to supply the art for the album after being wowed by their sketch of Dhani and him
we've only seen the spaceship cover, perhaps the inside is hiding a masterpiece: the Sci-Fi woman riding on a wave's chicane singing a rock-aria and holding a light saber overhead that pulses in all the neon shades of a wurlitzer jukebox - feel free to imagine what mission of the sacred heart she has been sent to fulfill

I'm so hungry for new Jeff, I've played this song countless times, now. "Let me goooo.....Let me flyyyyy......! CD pre-ordered. Vinyl will be pick-up at a record store. Amazon has started to pack their items cheapest way possible, causing damage to record corners. Goofs.

Oh, I was hoping for more of a return to the old sound, but the title track sounds exactly like what I call "Wilbury's-ELO" - the Zoom and Alone In The Universe sound. Dull.

Just listened whilst laying on a beach on the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia . Absolutely love the track. Its got that thing of sounding both instantly familiar and brand new at the same time . It also sounds a little "brighter" to me. Can't wait for the album and hopefully a uk tour next year

Well the new single and album really did seem to come from nowhere. I wasn't expecting it. I thought there'd be a long time between an announcement and actually hearing any of the music.
On hearing the single for the first time my thoughts are: it sounds like Jeff and sounds like the last album. I don't think it sounds like Ye Olde ELO but then it isn't 1978 anymore. It really reminds me of a melody the Wilburys might try. There's enough interesting parts to the song to make it distinctly a Jeff Lynne work but a few strings wouldn't go amiss.
The second time hearing it: gosh I really love this song, I'm enjoying it so much! It gives me the same ELO feeling as all Jeff's other works do, already I'm singing along.
I have to say that's the scariest looking spaceship. It looks like it could take you away and do experiments on you.
The title 'From Out Of Nowhere' is a very comforting ELO-ish title but reminds me too much of 'Out of the Blue' and I am not keen on having to refer to it as "FOON" forevermore.
The names of the new songs are also comfortingly ELO-ish because they seem to reference classic Jeff Lynne subject matter such as rain, women, love, time and birds. The lack of blue is most distressing but perhaps there will be some blue-ness in the lyrics?
With the familiar album title and song titles I can't help but think it all sounds like someone making up an imaginary ELO record. I'm not criticising though, I'm happy with the familiarity, it's like putting on a comfy pair of old pyjamas. What excites me most is that Richard Tandy is involved!
