If we're talking about ELO's artwork, of course it's cool for me to see how the logo changed through the years, including the first "real" logo in A New World Record! ELO II has one of the best covers ever! It's beautiful, and more if you know that at that time they didn't use real space pictures to re-create the dark sky...Don't know if it's my favourite, but probably shares a good place with the ElDorado, Time and Discovery covers.
If we talk about other covers, yes, I think it's very very important the artwork to like more an album. You can like the songs inside, but if the cover is beautiful, or interesting, you will love the album a bit more! My top covers of all time can be:
- Whipped Cream & Other Delights (Herb Alpert; you know which one is this ) - Eve (Alan Parson's Project) - Crime Of The Century (Supertramp) - Paris (Supertramp)
- Famous Last Words (Supertramp) - Bare Trees (Fleetwood Mac)
- Mirage (Fleetwood Mac) - The Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd) - The Miracle (Queen) - Bocanada (Puff) (Gustavo Cerati)
I know you know most of them!

Does anyone else see a kind of hidden ELO on the outer gatefold of Discovery.
The E is on the left of the Arch (and kind of matches the font of the E on the top right hand side 'Electric Light Orchestra') the L is the strong L on the wall and the O is the disc the boy is holding (or maybe even originally whatever that square in the background is).

I can see what you mean. But it's really not clear. This is why I like album covers.
