Aaron Lee Tasjan is one of my current favorites - always say he is the Wilbury's (any or all of 'em). Just read the bio on his site and sure enough he mentions Beatles, Petty and even Jeff. www.aaronleetasjan.com/bio/

Went back to sing at the folk club again last weekend. Chose another one of Mitch's classics. I did warn the audience beforehand that this song contains black humour. But they could have guessed that from the title "The Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Death". Thought forumheads might like to hear the original. It contains a lot of in-jokes for those who know their rock history.

Rebirth in New England by Phosporescent
new song out that reminds me of the Pina Colada song by Rupert Holmes (people either love it or hate it) have a listen and see if you agree - is it an intentional resemblence?

my local radio station had their 15th anniversary celebration - asked listeners to vote on their favorite songs since the station opened (2003)
tho I didn't vote for any of the top 5, I can't argue with them either if you haven't heard at least 3 out of 5, that's a sign you're missing out on the good stuff
1) The Story - Brandi Carlisle 2) Take me to church - Hozier 3) Avant Gardener - Courtney Barnett 4) S.O.B. - Nathaniel Rateliff & the night sweats 5) Hold On - Alabama Shakes
26 million views on the #1 song

Feeling OMD and Oingo Boingo like today. The solemn and melancholy tones of fall(OMD), and the nearing of Halloween(Oingo Boingo with Dead Man's Party)

Seems like the same is happening with all my favourite bands: What will be next? Paul McCartney's Beatles?

Seems like the same is happening with all my favourite bands: What will be next? Paul McCartney's Beatles? It's because of Maries health problems that she can't tour anymore,I think Per has someone else in her place now..

Love a bit of Roxette now and again... I love a lot of Roxette most every day. You are right, it's because of Marie's health problems. Per must have either Linnea Henriksson or Helena Josefsson, long time backing vocalists to both Roxette and his solo work. Not a big fan of either (needless to say, Marie's are some big shoes to fill). What's funny is that he did the same as Jeff did with ELO, despite the fact that I'm sure that Per owns Roxette's naming rights. He must have done it out of respect for Marie and to warn unaware people.

just read that Amy Winehouse is going to tour. As a hologram. really? not sure how much I would pay or how much I could cheer for a hologram band Amy's tour could convince some drunks in the audience to sober up. the article also mentions a Roy Orbison holo tour. so I guess this is a "thing" now will a a Wilbury's holo tour be next? to cash in on the love for Tom Petty Prince?, Hendrix?, Beatles? - could give new life to Tribute Bands but I'm just not sure people will go for it www.npr.org/2018/10/18/658384024/amy-winehouse-hologram-expected-to-tour-with-a-backing-band

Creepy. Where's the line between life and death. I think it would give me the same feeling of uneasiness I always had as a kid when every time I looked at a dead body in it's coffin I expected them to open their eyes and start talking to me.
Obviously this is the future. I wonder if actors, musicians will start to put in their wills a wish not to be exploited in this way.
Felt the same when Natale Coe did an album of duets with her dead father.

I don't like the idea at all, what's wrong with a film?
I do quite like the idea of streaming a concert to local cinemas, people who can't get in or travel can experience it live in a kind of gig environment. But the artist/band obviously has to be pretty much alive.

I suddenly remembered the "holodeck" from the Star Trek Voyager show. a lifelike 3D experience for crew members on the Enterprise. They would go to practice before a mission or take a mental health break.
such things don't exist yet, but virtual reality gear is being developed someday maybe we could drop in to a virtual rock concert - maybe experience the time Marc Bolan played double lead guitar with Jeff on stage in Birmingham during ELO's early days
it could be a few decades yet before any non creepy version of that technology exists
