When I visited Birmingham many years ago (1988?) I expected the tourist agency would know where Jeff grew up. They didn't.

Who is "We"? What's the back story? It’s the current owners, young couple, they posted it into a Facebook group.

Serious Question ... why would anyone bother?

Serious Question ... why would anyone bother? I’m kinda interested; to sit in his bedroom thinking he wrote and was inspired to dream up ideas in that room would be surreal.... My new video and song is 85% done and I need some footage for the end.... it’s got my creative juices flowing! and I’ve got one nice idea if I can pull it off.... She only had 8 space left out of the 50. I’m in the area anyway so I’ll pop along.

Serious Question ... why would anyone bother? I have to agree, I'm only a few miles down the road so could have gone but I can't really see the point of it, it's not as if Jeff or any associated ELO items or memorabilia will be there. It is however thoughtful of the current owners to open up their property like this and hope that anyone who does attend has a good time.

Serious Question ... why would anyone bother? I would go if I lived close by!!! It would just be cool to see where Jeff grew up... the living room where he and Roy recorded 10538... etc.

No Jeff DNA left there, but I'd do it. If they were charging it would be a turn-off.

I'm not so convinced that was Jeff's actual childhood home... Sure, the address seems to add up, but didn't Jeff himself once discuss returning to Birmingham with an old acquaintance, only to find that half of the street had already been demolished ahead of intended redevelopment, with the rest planned to follow soon? There's a whole line about this in A Long Time Gone, so it's safe to conclude the new house was built at some point in the 1990s, which looks about right considering the overall style from what I can see in that picture.

When Jeff got his Star in Birmingham he mentioned his first family house was in Pype Hayes (even closer to me but another area of Brum) then they moved to Shard End which is the house shown above. The house in Pype Hayes would have been knocked down as this area was basically Bull dozed and new housing built maybe this is the one he is referring to. There is a better view of the Shard End house towards the end of this page when I visited with Helmut83. jefflynneselo.proboards.com/thread/862/trip-uk-jeff-lynne-livePype Hayes information en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pype_Hayes

I'm confused. The first post says October 13th. Why all the posts in February? It would be cool to see that front room where Jeff spliced his first recordings together. Don't imagine Jeff's mother was too keen to see Roy Wood dropping by at late hours.

Also, looking at the earlier picture, that's definitely a house I can picture Jeff once recording in (the mythical story of how the demo for Blackberry Way came to be is likely one such example)...

It must be as the houses on the road he lived on in Shard End are still the original ones.
