Gee, Helmut83 you are pretty harsh with your self-assessment! How about this one: The mother of one of my son's friends has a cute tee-shirt that says something like "I don't dress up on Halloween. Everybody wants to be me!"

Don't take my self-assessments too seriously, eloneen. One day I'll say I'm horrible, next day I'll say I'm beautiful, and on any other day I might say something in between. It depends mostly on how I want to joke. But thanks anyway for being kind and trying to raise my self-esteem. That lady's shirt's motto was pretty similar to my reasoning.

The schnow ain't makin' much sense here in my part of Oz....temp today was 33 deg.C (91 F).
I've only seen snow twice in my life (on the alps in the eastern part of Oz). Where I live here in Western Oz, the only place you can possibly see snow is at the top of Bluff Knoll; a small mount (1095m) about 2 hours drive away from my home. It's a 4 hour return hike (up a pretty strenuous path) to get to the top, and even then it only snows briefly if a cold front comes through in winter.
Apparently there is a recent trend for people to rush up there (when it briefly snows) and take pictures of themselves without clothes on - called 'selfies in the snow' (or should that be buff on the bluff)? They then post said pics on social media.
Nope, not me.

babyzoomer How cold does it get in the winter where you live? How hot in the summer? We have four seasons here in central NC, with summer being the one that tends to be more extreme than the others, but with a little less humidity and fewer prolonged heat spells than one might encounter further south. We usually get some light snow at some point - typically in January or February, but occasionally it is heavy and sometimes it snows early. It is always exciting when it snows around here! In the spring we have to face a higher risk of tornadoes and other severe weather events. In New Orleans, it was major panic the few times it did snow there when I was growing up. There was no investment in equipment or supplies to handle such rare events because it did not make sense financially. Better to just shut everything down. I don't think I saw "real snow" (that stayed on the ground for a couple days) until I went to visit relatives in Michigan in the winter when I was in high school. That was fun!! 91F is near the edge of my comfort zone, but I really do love summer!

eloneen - (for this part of Western Australia): in summer it gets to 38 deg C (100 F) during the day; I'm right on the coast so relief is only ever a short walk to the beach away - a hot spell may mean nightime temps of 25-30 deg C (77-86 F) but otherwise it drops to 15-20 deg C . In winter the daytime temp is normally 15-20 deg (59-68 F) falling to as little as 4-8 deg C (40-46 F) overnight; being on the coast we rarely see a frost but it does occasionally happen. Rainfall: very little in summer; about 700-800mm of rain over winter. We used to have spring and autumn (fall to you), but over the last 20-30 years the 'in between' seasons have shrunk to little more than a couple of weeks each. I miss spring. Our summers here are considered mild - in many parts of Oz, mid-summer daytime temps of 45-50 deg C (113-122 F) are the norm. Here endeth the weather report....
