I'll gladly contribute a few vintage examples to this thread, starting with this curious print ad for the Time album... Apart from the cover artwork being slightly different to the final version, this was the first appearance of a suited gentleman wearing an ELO watch - both of these distinct themes would return in the original gatefold design for Secret Messages, later reworked into a promotional poster. Also, I believe that the watch became a genuine promo item as well. Next, a poster for the lead single from Secret Messages that had to be withdrawn - along with an early sleeve design - at the last minute: What's so controversial about this, you ask? Just as the '50s-influenced video for Rock 'N' Roll Is King was a result of Jeff discovering rockabilly through collaborating with Dave Edmunds just a few months before, this poster took inspiration from the ska movement that also saw a major resurgence during the early '80s. Printed in just a handful of magazines, Jet and CBS were forced to quickly abandon this overall concept after being served a C&D order from Jerry Dammers of The Specials, who argued that its checkerboard design was too close to the visual identity associated with his own label, 2 Tone Records.

Here are some adverts for ELO gigs.
That one always makes me sad...signalling - as it does - the beginning of the end.

I love that one because it reminds me of my favorite concert ever--not that I've been to so many--but I loved H& O and ELO (stiil do) and was beyond thrilled to see both at the same show on the Time tour in 1981 in Baton Rouge, LA!
