What a wonderfully inspirational story about Marie, Helmut. It goes to show that true musical greatness isn’t measured in chart placings but tenacity, determination and a strong spirit. Exactly. After defeating an illness like that, who could care for them not having a #1 since more than a decade? At that moment (the concert) she was the undiscussed #1 and people let her know that. ^ This. Marie is plainly a legend *cheers* And listening to the live version of Spending My Time, I'm getting chills - amazing! Partly down to the whole story of her comeback, but also as Helmut says due to the huge crowd singing along. It must have felt fabulous when that whole wave of goodwill came her way, from what I've heard the audiences in South America are always the best for that sort of participation, even singing the riffs as well as the words Yes, that's a bit weird but they (we) sing the riffs with "oh-oh-oh-ohs". Definitely the rock/pop public is a good thing we have in South America, particularly in Argentina, and particularly in Buenos Aires. That concert had the atmosphere of a party because Roxette kind of creates that atospmhere with many uplifting songs, but it also had it's emotional moments because everyone knew what Marie had been through. Obviously she was the star of the night and you could tell she was very happy. And thanks for your detailed review, Unomusette.

...plus to have 15 tracks on a single album is amazing value for money, thanks for sharing it Helmut I have to totally agree. To provide 15 songs, and of such good quality, shows a real respect for, and love affair with, the fans. A very class act, for sure. I've been griping to people lately about Bob Seger, one of my favorite artists, but here in a couple weeks he's coming out with his first album in 8 years, and there will only be 10 songs on them, and only four of them are originals. And this is a guy who sells himself as identifying with the working class man, etc. and he charges us full price for only 10 songs with just six originals. Kinda gets on my nerves. And in all his interviews "oh yeah, I got like 70 songs to choose from". I've heard of going by the formula, but this guy is way too caught in his formula; gotta show more respect for the fans, that they get a good bang for their buck. Anyways, glad Roxette at least understands that. Jim

Things Will Never Be the Same: Keyboards up a bit too loud on this one - did they leave the engineer to his own devices on the last songs? Marie's part sounds Abba-esque to me, apologies to Helmut but I actually quite like Abba so it's a positive for me. They get compared to ABBA all the time. The fact that they are the two most popular Swedish bands (although ABBA is much more) also makes for it. And I agree about Marie needing to use her lower vocal range more often. I love it when she plays the bad rocker girl and screams a bit like in "Hotblooded" or "Soul deep", but that calm, deep tone she has is fantastic as well.

Guys, thanks to all for the reviews. It's been very interesting to read what people who have never heard the CD have to say about it and how they find the songs. I'm glad that in general terms you all seemed to like it.
On to the following.
