queenofthehours, that video of the bikers in the sphere gets you on your nerves just from watching it. Scary stuff. Biking is very big in Argentina, probably in Brazil too. Beautiful places for a walk, but before breakfast? Make sure you have eaten something before or you might suddenly fall flat on your back!

One Night In BrumYesterday I travelled up to Birmingham, the capital of ELO, and spent one night there. The main purpose of the trip was to attend a one-man show/lecture on the Beatles album Abbey Road. But here are the other highlights: Yes! There was a forum meet-up! I signed up to take Horacewimp's guided tour of the city. Note the rock T-shirts, both showing allegiance to forum-approved bands. At the BBC studios in Birmingham: One's a weird-looking alien traveller who's invaded an unsuspecting city. The other's a Dalek. The Walk of Stars on Broad Street. We couldn't see Jeff's star because of the building work being done at the moment, but it was great to stop and admire Roy's accolade. This statue is normally of a lady in a fountain - known locally as the "Floozie in the Jacuzzi". But since she's surrounded by plants at the moment, we rechristened her the Lovely in the Shrubbery. And Mr Blue Sky showed up too! The Floozie/Lovely's statue is surrounded by a quotation chiselled into the stone. We made a "Discovery" which led to some improvised street art! After the guided tour, No Cause joined us for a beer and a Richard Shandy. Horace had suggested I visit the HMV shop in High Street - a massive record shop. Didn't buy anything, but I did a bit of shop art while I was there. And finally, just before leaving, spotted this fine display of Wilfs on sale in the city centre. Had a great time. Special thanks to Horacewimp for the tour - which of course included sightings of several important guys from the Industrial Revolution!

Sounds like you had a wonderful day of sightseeing, vlogdance! Excellent shop art, as usual—though I thought the HMV shop owner must’ve just been an ELO fanatic until I saw your caption, too bad that’s not the case.

It was great to meet up with vlogdance and show her some Birmingham sites. Here are a couple of other photos from the tour.

Another successful fun form meet-up! Thanks for sharing. "Floozie in the Jacuzzi". (BUSTED! Nieve is not happy finding out where that scoundrel No Cause sneaked off to yesterday. He had raking to do! Knowing how she feels about a certain bad influencer of curry and beer, he was smart to keep it under wraps. Glad Vlog was there to keep the boys in check.)

Ah, but No Cause had a good excuse - he wanted to bring some Welsh cakes back for Nieve. He knows how much she likes them. And he's been raking like a good 'un since he came home. #nieveandnocause4ever

He's such a shrewd devil when it comes to winning over his Nieve!

Oh, I'm wearing such a big daft grin looking at those lovely pics, nice work vlogdance and Horacewimp! Especially impressed at the shop art interludes, I expect Jeff's bank balance went up several notches due to the extra sales of his vinyls. But look at your lovely smiles, it was plainly a great occasion and perfectly celebrated with Richard Shandy and welsh cakes. Some nifty t shirt action too

Awesome, vlogdance bach! It's great to see that forumheads encounters keep happening quite often lately. You were lucky, both when eloneen and I visited there was a downpour, but you got an incredibly sunny day. Maybe No Cause's presence brought you luck? That llama has a lot of kilometers on his back and places visited. Horacewimp, how many important people from the Industrial Revolution did you show Vlog? Also, it was great to see one of you was wearing the T-shirt of the greatest band in the world (and the other, an ELO T-shirt).

UPDATE: Maybe the HMV shop owner is an ELO fanatic... had this been put up yet when you visited, vlogdance ?

Wow, great display!
No, it wasn't up when I visited - if it had been, I might still be in the store now, heh.
Wonder if they played the album to their customers, over the stereo system?

Enjoying the photos! Beautiful town.

Lovely pics Horacewimp, you won't need to visit Frankfurt now it's come to you Great beach with palm trees, properly tropical and most uplifting looking from grey, drizzly Britain.
