I was intrigued since I got the impression from what I read on this forum that Jeff is a Birmingham City supporter, does he really go to their matches now? I wondered also how he met fellow Birmingham City fan Jasper Carrott, was it through Bev?

He doesn't attend games mainly because he lives in Los Angeles since a few decades ago and since then he hasn't gone back to his native city much. So if you were planning on switching teams so you could see him from close up at the stadium the same way you saw Robert Plant, I don't think you'll get the chance, so you might want to stick to Wolverhampton. I suppose what you read on this forum is my post today in the "Welcome to the forum" thread? I don't know about Jasper Carrot.

Haha to be honest I have no intention of changing to Birmingham City considering the slight rivalry between them and Wolves! I was just interested how people knew he was a Birmingham City supporter because when I tried to search it up nothing particularly came up unless I was looking in the wrong place!

The song "Birmingham Blues" (which isn't even a blues) is really inspired in Birmingham City FC, who are called the "blues" because of the colour of their jersey. In the intro Jeff shouts "play soccer" (he had already gone all yank by that point apparently).

"Wood’s departure didn’t stop ELO becoming one of the biggest bands in the world during the late Seventies, enjoying a string of symphonic rock hits including Livin’ Thing and Mr Blue Sky. However, Lynne never bought into a lifestyle of rock ’n’ roll excess. His drug of choice was real ale and his big passion in life, music aside, was Birmingham City FC (he still watches their games from LA on satellite TV"

Ah yes I thought it was something to do with Bev, strange how Jeff talks to Jasper but not Bev considering Jasper and Bev are best mates but that's another discussion entirely over Bev and Jeff! I remember when my Dad and his mates went to Birmingham away last month and his mate loves ELO and played Mr Blue Sky on the way back and he was like I know they play this at Birmingham but it's a good song haha. Horacewimp Helmut83 Ah yes that makes sense! I didn't make the connection with the blues part of the song since I associated the word blues in the song with the genre of music haha. I didn't hear the beginning of the song, will give the song a listen again!

Least Jeff is a supporter from afar! I don't think I've seen Bev at a Wolves match (yet) Keep seeing Robert Plant though

In one of the various interviews over the past few years, Jeff stated that he watches his beloved Blues via the internet.
