If "guitar" includes pedal steel guitar, then I would invoke this one by Ron Wood which starts around minute 2:16.

While not as perfect as the solo in 'Mr Blue Sky', The Bay City Rollers' 'Bye Bye Baby' guitar solo is in much the same spirit: short, bouncy and tuneful.

The guitar solo starts at 2:57 Great solo indeed and what is one of my favorite Elton John songs of all time. The video is absolutely horrendous though, probably one of the worst sexploitation videos ever made. Too bad such a high class musician, can have such low class principles! Not exactly a man standing in the winner's circle, in my book. Jim

Jim I agree with you, that video doesn't do justice to the beautiful song. I love Elton John's music, he's one of my fav singers/pianists. Back in the '90s, I had to buy a second copy of "The One" because I listened to it so much that the CD wasn't longer playable Continuing to talk about this album, what about the Gilmour' solo on "Understanding Women"? (3:09) Clapton solo (2:28 - 2:46 / 4:22...fade out) Goosebumps...

If you are unaware of this band or have never heard the track, I urge you to sit back with your hands behind your head drink or smoke if you got em and breath in this solo... It's gotta be one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces on a guitar ever. Sooo underrated! SOLO 1:33 TO 2:15...

Rain is Fallin, it's very subtle and even in the background in the chorus, but it's there and very soothing. Inspired me to learn the song and now it's currently my favorite ELO song to play.
