You’re right queenofthehours , it was hard at times to move on, but there was so much more to drool over, so I’d lift my jaw off the floor and shuffled away. I read somewhere that Strummer’s guitar is the one he’s smashing on the “London Calling” album. I could give a fat rat’s ass about the Halls bureaucracy, as you know Helmut83 , I’m just pleased about the generosity of the artists and their families. The U2 cars are very cool, hoping they were still there. There are two songs that Petty’s coat reminds me of. Yes, Lennon plays that guitar in the video. You sure the Cav’s isn’t a girls rowing team? Thank you, both. Wish all could have been with us! One more story: A small recording booth was set up featuring a singing lesson from Graham Nash on an interactive video, just his head and acoustic guitar showing, life size. “Teach Your Children Well” was the song I wanted him to “teach” me to sing. He started the lesson singing the melody, than harmony with guitar. Then I was to sing the melody to his harmony into a mic. There was a meter to let you know how off key you're singing. At the end he said to me “Holy Toledo! Don’t quit your day job!” I didn’t even try I was so taken by listening to him sing and play. 0% was my score! If Jeff were to do this, I’d locked meself in that booth all day! And, maybe learn to sing too!

Nope. The one time I have the opportunity singing with a rock star! Where is my head!

Look like you had a great time, BSJ. I still haven't made my way to the hall itself, although I did attend the 1995 Concert for the Hall of Fame, in Cleveland. Quite the memorable experience.
This was one of the many highlights...

What a coincidence! I visited this very same museum on 7th July as part of a month-long trek/adventure from the East Coast to the West Coast....
Before then, my daughter and I checked out the scene of September's shows in New York....
Afterwards (many days afterwards!) we visited a venue that would be perfect for Jeff - The Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado...

More from Red Rocks....
....and the trip wouldn't be complete without a visit to Capitol Records and Jeff's star in LA...
It was only six weeks ago that I saw the other one in Birmingham. They could both do with a bit of a clean up!

I read somewhere that Strummer’s guitar is the one he’s smashing on the “London Calling” album. I feel bad to point this out, but that's not Joe smashing his guitar on the cover of London Calling but Paul Simonon smashing his bass guitar. But I reckon the whole lot of them smashed a fair few stringed instruments in their time!

WOW Chippa ! Unbelievable the artists at that concert! Didn't it run overtime by many, many hours? Where were you seated? And get thee to the Hall soon!

What a small world this forum can be soonerorlater ! Great shot of the back wall, happy you posted it, mine didn’t turn out (I blame tk6 ). How disappointing that Jeff’s star is so beat-up already. Seems you all enjoyed your trek across the states hitting "the best of". How many cities did you visit?

Good photos, soonerorlater ! So you've been doing some intensive touring around far away places (far away from each other at least: Birmingham, Cleveland, New York, Colorado)... The guy above you in the first picture had a nice bum, you've got to admit.

Thank you for your comments good people!
My daughter has this year turned eighteen and is hopefully off to University in September so my wife and I plotted and planned this manic touring vacation across the states. We've been there many times but there's something very challenging/satisfying in venturing from coast to coast. We landed in New York on July 2nd and returned from San Francisco on 31st (last Sunday and I'm still suffering with jet lag!). In between we visited Cleveland, Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City, Denver, Grand Junction, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Diego. That's 4800 miles of driving and I did it all (no-one else volunteered!).
A wonderful time and I hope to do something similar at some point in the future.
