As far as I know the only swearing in an ELO song is during Oh No Not Susan, I was a lad when I first heard this and spotted the naughty word straight away and it thought it rather cool. In fact I think it was the first swear word I had ever heard in a song. I believe the song was played on the radio as no one was aware of the offending word. Are there any other naughty words in ELO songs and what did you think when you heard Oh No Not Susan, now in my ageing years I still like the song a lot but substitute "flipping" into the lyrics. For those who don't know, listen carefully

Melting in the Sun - Zoom
"Shifted and Pissed up...."
I don't mind the swear word in Oh No Not Susan... I first heard it when I was very young. But the tone of the song is so mellow there is very little aggression in the way its sung. I think it suits the mood.

- "Easy Money": "... come to the conclusion, it's like the old man says, the only thing you give me was shit and promises...".
And I also don't mind the swearing. It all depends on the circumstances. For example, in an epic symphonic rock ballad like CGIOOMH the swearing would have sounded out of place, but in a "hard blues" song (I've invented a genre right there but you know what I mean) where the guy is complaining about a woman who used to take money from him, I think it complies a function of giving strength to the complaint and thus to the song.

"Fuck" is my favorite word. I just can't help it.
I think Jeff needs to cover this classic song.

Two points regarding 'Oh no not Susan' the 1st being the printed lyrics on the album refer to it as 'They JUST don't mean a thing' and the second,to me it sounds like Jeff is saying 'focking' maybe trying to disguise it a little maybe?
