It's always a risky venture taking a group of thematically unrelated songs and weaving them into a musical but if it worked for Queen and Abba then why not ELO? Jeff's songs and compositions certainly have the orchestral and dramatic style that could really work powerfully and effectively on stage if a suitably exciting story could be written. Because of the dramatic sweep of much of the music I'd favour a more imagined/fantasy approach of We Will Rock You (although not quite so ridiculously OTT) than say a simple love story of Mama Mia, but you can imagine how thrillingly staged some of the songs could be in the hands of a talented creative team .
Of course shows like these can also go disastrously wrong if the material is not handled properly and it's anyone's guess if Jeff would OK any ideas put to him but I would go anyway, just out of curiosity.

I hope it doesn't happen! Not that I wouldn't like to see it, it's just that it needs to be handled with care. Keep Ben Elton away and hire Shakespeare instead -

"Eldorado-The Musical" is an intriguing idea.

Now THAT would work. I'd love to see that. That would be classy.

Years ago I worked on a tape mix with an Eldorado musical in mind. For the life of me I cant remember the track listing but that was the concept. I know for sure it contained all of the Eldorado LP tracks and was heavy on earlier pre 76 are songs. With Rocky Horror getting a reboot redo I think an Eldorado musical would be nice and classy. Got it. !!! One night only. Scene : Sonny has finished opening Xanadu as the Xanadu musical ends..... he has an idea for an Eldorado musical. Then the Eldorado musical begins and Broadway has to build more theatres to keep up with ticket demands. Wait what's the opening line again? Oh ya .. " The Dreamer....the unwoken fool. " Yep me to a tee Al F Up in Ottawa
