This page in the Jeff Lynne Songs Database says Beatles forever has known secret messages, but they don't discuss it because it's a "sensitive topic". Does anyone know what are these messages?

I've tried deciphering the backwards messages, but the quality of the recordings out there are pretty crappy.

The only backward message I know of in Beatles Forever is "forever and ever," which can be heard after "they really taught the world to sing" and again following "I wish I knew the secret." Including forward bits, there's the "number nine" after Revolution is mentioned, plus countless musical quotations from other songs - my favourite is the (synthesised) Mellotron introduction to Strawberry Fields Forever.

Am I alone in thinking it actually isn't very good

That may depend on only hearing the low quality audio version rather than the full blown studio version that must be out there somewhere

It's probably viewed differently in 2016 compared to when it was written in 1983, I think Jeff is embarrassed by it which is why it's still in the vaults describing it as being 'fawning' I like listening out for all the Beatles song checks and sounds

I've only heard a very lo-fi version, but it sounds rancid to me. I'll be happy if it never sees the light of day. Are the backward messages not "this will only be released after I peg it"
