Jim, May I have the week of Oct 5th? This pick was replaced by Rubber Soul. BSJ Hi BSJ, well I have you down for Oct. 12, since jefflynnenut requested the week after qoth first, just before your post. So Helmut this week, jefflynnenut Oct. 5, then you have Oct. 12, and I put myself down for the week after. Who wants Oct. 26? Horacewimp, 88, brax or anyone else, are you due for seconds as well, if so, just let me know if you want me to put you in for another week. Any newbies who haven't had a turn yet who want to be slated for a week? Jim

Greetings, Here is a thread where you can sign up for a week. We can ride it out until the week before Christmas, for now, and then maybe pick it up sometime soon after the new year, from there. Please pick a week and mark it down somewhere that you won't forget! :-) Ideally, let's try to have a new CD Chooser for each week, who hasn't gotten to do it before. I encourage everyone to mark your name under "CD Chooser" for the week you want to do; but not to let us know the CD until it's your week, just let it be a surprise. Besides you might change your mind about which one you want to do, anyways, so may as well just wait. Sun-Sat Week | CD (Don't list it until it's your week.) | CD Chooser | August 3-9 | Steve Winwood "Chronicles" | jrmugz
| August 10-16 | Pete Townshend "All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes" | BSJ | August 17-23 | Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark "Architecture and Morality" | HoraceWimp | August 24-30 | Moody Blues "Long Distance Voyager" | 88keys | August 31 - September 6 | Phil Collins "No Jacket Required" | Brax | September 7-13 | The Strawbs "Burning for You" | unomusette
| September 14-20 | The Beatles "Rubber Soul" | BSJ | September 21-27 |
| Helmut83 | September 28 - October 4 |
| queenofthehours | October 5-11 |
| jefflynnenut | October 12-18 |

Guys of the "CD of the Week" section (specially Horacewimp and queenofthehours, as the administrators): Today BSJ asked me by private message where was my CD of the Week thread. I couldn't blame her for not finding it because the truth is that I posted it on Sunday 21 (it's Wednesay night now) and since then it has spent practically all of the time buried under threads which have newer posts (mainly by the CD of the Week from the previous week -Sunday 14-, maybe because it's the Beatles very popular album "Rubber Soul" -BSJ's post-). Even when a few users still have managed to remember about it, find it and post their reviews all the same, and even when I posted some answers to help keep it on float, it would inevitably sink beneath the CD of the week from Sunday 14 again and again, thus not being visible from outside of the "CD of the Week" section inside "Music". As a consequence, the CD from Sunday 14 got more activity this week than the one that I posted and that is supposed to be under reviews this week. If you think that's how it works, I haven't got any problem, but I think if you want to make the section "CD of the Week" work properly you've got to find a way to make the CD of that week be always at hand and visible that very week, no matter if users keep posting in the old ones or in other threads. What's your opinion?

What's your opinion? Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Helmut. I totally agree that the CD of the Week should get all the focus for that week. The idea being, to treat the person presenting the CD of the Week as we would like to be treated when we post our CDs. So, for my part, as the one who originated the idea, I would like to encourage everyone to keep the main focus on the CD of the Week, since that's the idea. Please try to review the CD the week that is currently presented, so that we can keep fully focused on it, and try to avoid commenting on the other ones. Thanks. Jim

Just a thought, HoraceWimp, but maybe if we want to be real strict about making sure that just the CD of the Week is focused on, is there a way to lock the non-current CD of the Week threads? I'm not saying you have to, or that you have to agree with it. It's your board, so you can do or not do whatever you think is best. Just throwing it out there as an idea, like how the battle of the bands threads were locked after those contests were up, so that, along with mainly for not voting on it anymore, the attention could stay on the current thread. Just a thought, thinking out loud, again feel free to compleley ignore the suggestion or disagree with it, etc.

Jim, I'm not sure I see as inconvenient in itself that people keep on commenting on a CD from a previous week, as long as the CD of that current week's thread is always visible somewhere on the main panel (so people know that's the current CD). The thing here is that the previous CD buried mine and made it almost invisible, or hard to find at least, for half of the week by now.
Then, how people want to treat other users and how much attention they want to pay to this or that CD is a personal matter IMO. General rules can be established and certain conducts encouraged, but I think trying to force them by closing the older thread is not the best way to do it (besides, it is possible that you hadn't had enough time to post your reviews and you fall behind one or two days).
This is just more ideas. Do as you deem convenient.
