I was asked to keep this quiet, but since it's highly unlikely to happen now then I don't see any harm...
There were negotiations taking place for a possible reunion of The Move to coincide with the group's 50th anniversary, though I've been reliably informed these talks failed when Bev and Trevor Burton announced their intention to book shows under the band's name for later this year, looking to cash in on the current remastering campaign as well as five decades since their formation. Naturally, this infuriated Roy Wood the most, who my source claims was already reluctant to look back. On top of this disagreement, there were problems with deciding whether Ace Kefford or Rick Price should join the others, as it was unlikely both would accept if they knew the other had also been asked. Of the two, Ace is considered by many a liability due to his mental illness, and I suspect Rick may not have wanted to contribute to offending someone who has more reason to be there, since it was Kefford along with Burton who originally created The Move. What can be guaranteed is that Jeff still has something amazing planned for his opening act, and I'd be very surprised if local legends such as Dave Morgan, Mike Sheridan or Steve Gibbons aren't at least in the audience, if not scheduled to make on-stage appearances. Furthermore, there are rumours of ELO's headline set being professionally filmed ahead of a release closer to the release of the new remastering campaign, scheduled for this summer. However, I'm more inclined to believe the first wave is meant to tie in with Jeff's slot at Glastonbury, since the BBC have a great track record of helping raise his profile, their Hyde Park coverage in particular putting his name right back into the wider public consciousness. Whoever the warm-up act is in Birmingham, I'm sure Jeff's got someone amazing in mind!

Haven't Bev and Roy had issues with each other for a while, now? I'd even go as far to say a Jeff-Bev reunion is more likely than a Roy-Bev reunion.

I should point out that the planned reunion was indeed for June 24th. Also, while there is recent history between Roy and Bev, my understanding is that the group's 50th anniversary was seen by everyone as enough of an excuse to settle their many differences - let's not forget that Jeff would have been most likely involved to some degree as well, but it seems as if he was prepared to lay the whole Part II issue to rest for the sake of what nearly became a fantastic celebration of the entire Brum Beat scene. Instead, we might still get Roy sharing a stage with Jeff, which is just as good for me!

Strange that Bev should choose to put the hammer on such a special reunion (and what it might have led to) and for what? Especially as he appeared to be making overtures to Jeff on his FB page last year with complimentary comments on AITU. What a waste, the guys should wise-up, they're really all too old for all this feuding and squabbling and bad feeling about stuff that happened decades ago. They should try and remember they were all once friends and band mates with a love of making music and all those good times together. At their time for life it will eventually be too late and only regrets of what might or should have been.
