The guy has not toured for 35 years and we are worrying that the setlist is not as edgy as we would like? I am betting Jeff is nervous as hell right now. It's a miracle he has decided to tour. We should not worry about what he is playing. I understand we all have songs we would like him to play but some perspective is needed. Plus, we don't even know exactly what he will play at this point. If he was playing multiple dates at a venue then I would hope he would mix it up for the people going more than once. My only complaint will be if the show is less than 2 hours. For the prices people pay the show should be at least that long. Not expecting a 3:45 Bruce type show but not barely 90 minutes either. Spot on. I do suspect it'll be the same set list for the first few shows until he gets an idea of what works and what doesn't. Given that Jeff must have had complete control over every single last piece of the show when they were touring back in the 70/80s, I would imagine he finds it quite difficult to have total faith in Mike Stevens. Don't get me wrong I've no doubt that Jeff has the final say on everything, but I bet that MS has just encouraged him to turn up, sing and play a solo here and there - leave the rest to me.
I'm hoping that we get about 1hr50, but he's getting on a bit, hasn't toured for years and I'm happy with what I've heard will be in the set, albeit I do hope there's reference to Time at some point. Can't believe he doesn't view 21st Century Man in the same light as Steppin out.
Wish I was there tonight. I'm hoping to find some tickets for Leeds on Sat.
I totally agree. I think there has been a significant amount of pushing dear old Jeff to tour and I would not be surprised at all if Mike Stevens did indeed tell him exactly what you wrote above. As for Jeff's age being a factor I went to see Springsteen about a month ago and he play three and a half hours. Of course he is a different animal all together.
It's funny, but when you mentioned 21st century man and Steppin out as equal songs I thought dear old Jackpunch has been working too hard, our out in the sun a bit too much but when I thought about it I realized they actually are very similar songs. The reason I like Steppin Out better and you like 21st century man is the same reason one might like chocolate ice cream and another prefers rocky road.

There's something so unceremonious about that as the opener. That's been a big flaw in the shows I've seen so far. I really want something more conceptual and dramatic to open the show; either Eldorado Overture into CGIOOMH or Prologue into Twilight would be amazing.
