This is such fun, I love the way it's written

Had to read it a few times because of laughing.
Summer & Lighting "...“here it comes again!” like he’s ripping his shirt open to get struck dead in the chest by a thunderbolt, there was surely no more euphoric moment in 70s pomp rock." Golden

Had to read it a few times because of laughing. Me too! Like the Uncyclopedia article, I had to keep stopping to laugh.
"lengthy baroque evocations of English civil war battles that couldn’t have been more prog if they’d pulled on a fox’s head 24 minutes in and announced supper." "If Kanye West’s Twitter feed were a rock song, it’d be this one."
Great writing. One of the better ELO articles where as a fan you find yourself chuckling in agreement (I told you 'Poker' was punk!).
"Everyone bawls along to Mr Blue Sky like a pissed-up Pavarotti these days, but the three less clement song sections were vastly superior: the slow-burn gorgeousness of Big Wheels, Standin’ in the Rain doing its damndest to be Beethoven rushing through a recital in a thunderstorm, and the piece’s pinnacle, Summer and Lightning." - This should be written on every tour programme and on every poster, CD and t-shirt. I'm proud to be a Lynnehead and not a "Bobby Blue Sky" .
So glad 'Twilight' got on the list. Mark Beaumont says that 'Tightrope', 'Waterfall', 'Four Little Diamonds' and 'Ma-Ma-Ma-Belle' almost made it, I'd have liked to see them included.
"probably soundtracked the conception of Matt Bellamy" - I feel I should listen to Muse more.
I love the "The Exorbitant Seven" . 'Hey Jude' on horseback indeed .

"probably soundtracked the conception of Matt Bellamy" - I feel I should listen to Muse more. Naturally I second this heartily I didn't notice it was Mark Beaumont who wrote it, he's written a lot about Muse too, including a book. The man plainly has excellent taste.

I've been curious of Muse ever since I read that Matt loved Berlioz. They get extra points as they come from Teignmouth which is one of my mum's favourite places on earth.

Not to go off topic, but I'd give Butterflies and Hurricanes a listen, it has a Rachmaninov-esque piano middle bit (and was once chosen by Josh Groban as a favourite, if that is helpful) You can skip to 2.52 for the piano bit
