Thanks Ted. Went on the link. That would make a great canvas. I would hang it next to a canvas of the intended ( men shaking hands) SM artwork.

Until now I'd been using a variation of the original promotional artwork, but now my homemade Secret Messages 3CD+DVD 30th Anniversary Edition box has a definitive cover - I've always wanted to know what Hag's original image looked like before all the classic art elements (and ELO references) were added... it sure didn't disappoint!
Does anyone else feel this starker version of the final album sleeve concept would have made a fantastic single design for Hello My Old Friend, if only this hadn't been dropped from the tracklist?

Yes it's the 'cooling towers' & 'dirty streets' that make this art work a match for the track! I now have this as my phone wallpaper and the canvas has been ordered!

Love the print, I agree it would grace any discerning fan's wall. But I ADORE the shaking hands artwork, if that's it as your avatar, Shardender? I'm currently reorganising my framed stuff, dumping some faded, elderly pre-raphaelite prints and looking for something livelier. This is the very thing - is there anywhere I can download a tidy copy? This is why I already love this forum, I've found out stacks of interesting things within about two weeks

I'm currently reorganising my framed stuff, dumping some faded, elderly pre-raphaelite prints and looking for something livelier. This is the very thing - is there anywhere I can download a tidy copy? For my last homemade expanded edition of Secret Messages, I actually printed up a "digipak" style case using a modified version of the promotional poster from a low resolution scan, as there isn't a high quality copy doing the rounds to my knowledge (the original back cover has never been seen to my knowledge, though I just used a screen capture of the nebula seen at various intervals during the title track's music video). On the subject of the shaking hands artwork, does anyone else think it's possible this was inspired by In For The Kill, the early set of lyrics to what later became Caught In A Trap? Endless Lies was reworked for Balance Of Power, so there's a chance that other leftovers from the Wisseloord sessions were dusted off as well - some of those drum sounds especially fit in very well with what Jeff had been doing in 1982/3.
