It's not a family of four though mate. It's four people all working and earning who all chose to spend £121 each on the best seats after a general consensus. There's a difference.
We could have gone for the cheaper option at £57. But decided we wanted as good a seat as we could get.
And I'm not griping about the price. I am happy to pay it to see Jeff. If The do have a gripe it's TicketMaster restricting availability on presale tickets then flogging them on their other site (GetMeIn) for over twice the price. If ever anything was crying out for consumer regulation it's that. It's legalised touting.

In the current market I'd say the asking price was about right to be honest. Some artists that could be classed in the same bracket as Jeff charge a lot more. When I saw the Eagles in Brum I think the cheapest seats were about £90. This is the going rate these days. You think this is bad wait until Madonna tours. The fact that the rip-off merchants are circling these gigs like vultures suggests the expected demand. These people might be complete charlatans but they're no mugs either. For me personally I don't have a sour taste. I paid £121 per ticket for four people which to be honest was less than I expected for the best seats. I've paid far more for worse seats at the same venue to see artists I consider to be vastly inferior to Jeff. Madges tickets already on sale on Ticketmaster for the O2...

I doubt Jeff has that much control over the final pricing to be honest. Most of it is added on by the venue, the agencies and the distributors. Jeff will be lucky if he gets 20% of it. Jeff has no control...poss unaware...too much on his plate anyway... Its the greedy promoters and Ticketmaster...but mostly its the modern way we all want things done...one ticket supplier...monopoly... I still hope they haven't gone too over the top with pricing...

You guys are griping about price and I'm sitting in the US scared to death he won't tour here. Suck it up. You'll make more money. There won't be many more (if any) Jeff Lynne tours. Jeff has said he will do dates in the States...in fact I heard that before there was talk of a uk tour...so i was pissed at that point... He will come...as long as tho side is a great success... But....it wont be a massive tour I guess....maybe just the major cities...poss something smaller...but support it... I was/am unsure of the prices here...hope they e got it right... I think starting here was the right thing to do...the bbc have invested heavily for 15 months for Jeff...thanks to, mostly, Chris Evans...50k at Hyde park...it was obvious to start here, its hot stuff for Jeff in th UK... I would love him to stay here but reality says he will soon be off home to do promotion...so if he gets lots of air time on your big shows then i guess it will get bigger...but he will need someone to Ste up and push the whole thing like Evans has done here... Is that happening over there?

Both shows in Birmingham and I couldn't be happier - almost exactly 30 years after Heartbeat '86!
I do share people's frustrations about greedy ticket agencies and the thoroughly immoral concept of 'secondary' sites. To me, it's no better than touting with an online face to imply respectability. And my pet annoyance?.....charging a proportionately bigger fee for each ticket price level, like you're getting a better service by buying a more expensive ticket! It's maddening and there's nothing we can do about it!!

Lots of people who aren't dyed in the wool fans like us are buying or trying to buy tickets. One guy I know has a contact at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham. They've sold out their 2 blocks of presale tickets and are expecting a sell-out within 2 hours of general sale such has been the interest. I know that forecast has to convert to actual but their phone system has crashed several times because of the enquiries. They are talking up the possibility of an extra night at Nottingham.

What's the point of having a livenation presale and a ticketmaster presale when livenation is owned by ticketmaster? And if you apply via livenation it takes you to the ticketmaster site.
BTW I love Rob Graiger He mist be at his wits end this week with all that's going on yet he's still had time to email me when I got concerned over the one show!!

Album arrived today. Wow, its brilliant. I would love the following to be part of the set for the tour
AITU Sun always shines - this is as good as anything he has ever recorded !
Love and Rain Dirty to the bone When the night comes One step
I know WIWAB will get played but it's not close to being the best song on the album, even though I like it.

I can't see Jeff ever playing Love and Rain live, since it's so similar to Showdown. I still don't understand why so many people seem to be favoriting the song. It's my least favorite from the album, apart from that pretty section towards the end that comes out of nowhere. That's the one thing that saves it from being a complete Showdown clone.

Got to say Bhabs. Totally disagree on Love & Rain. I don't hear Showdown at all. It totally knocked me bandy as soon as it started up. And that bit in the middle which grabs you in the gut. Genius. It made me think "bloody hell this really is ELO Im listening to!". Opinions, opinions opinions eh.

"love and rain" sounds to me like a mix of "showdown", "train of gold" and "no way out", nice song!

Play them back to back and you will see the difference. Love and Rain is an excellent bluesy song and Jeff's daughter kinda steals the show for a bit.
