It's been a bit since I've been around here, so I'm not sure if anyone remembered that my rainbow lorikeet, Disco, loves ELO? But I just found out from another parrot keeper that her yellow crowned Amazon parrot loves them, too! She said her bird is especially fond of "Turn to Stone," and likes to sing along to it. I wonder if Jeff knows that he has Avian fans, too? Hello, BIuebird, great to hear from you again. And what a great 'Discovery', a parrot with impeccable taste.

Did they mention it's Jeff's birthday? It would be nice to think they chose a chart with an ELO track in on purpose.
Edit: Great to see you back BIuebird, it's been far too long

That's TV UK playing 'LTTL' right now. I wasn't paying attention but that opening bass is too distinctive.

Electric Light Orchestra was the answer to a question on Mastermind tonight. The question was Telephone Line and Mr Blue Sky were hits in the 70s for the band ELO, what does ELO stand for, the contestant got it correct.

Electric Light Orchestra was the answer to a question on Mastermind tonight. The question was Telephone Line and Mr Blue Sky were hits in the 70s for the band ELO, what does ELO stand for, the contestant got it correct. For us forumites, that seems such an easy question. Mastermind is supposed to be a kind of 'highbrow' quiz so this question looked out of place here...

Today I read the following passage in an article about teachers changing careers because of burnout: www.edsurge.com/news/2022-05-02-the-mental-health-crisis-causing-teachers-to-quit"Yet former teachers often see the nine-to-five life as a kind of Xanadu—a mythic combination of flexibility and respect. In the RAND survey of former teachers, about 60 percent of those who found jobs outside of education said they were drawn to both the flexibility and better pay. Teachers, after all, are accustomed to an environment where simply taking a phone call or using the bathroom requires significant planning." Interesting description of Xanadu. I thought it might be just a little more fun than just "flexibility and respect," and being able to use the toilet when I need to, but I get where they're coming from...

Double helping of ELO this morning on BBC Radio 2 - in the daily Popmaster quiz, Ken asked in which year Evil Woman was a hit (1976).
And now he's playing Mr Blue Sky. (Perhaps a subliminal appeal to listeners not to turn over?!)
