You may laugh, Timeblue - but Les is a great DJ. Listening to him right now on Boom Radio. Early on in his show, he played I Can Hear The Grass Grow by the Move. Plus, he's announced that on this month's August Bank Holiday, Boom Radio is going to play a chart of their listeners' favourite instrumental tracks. Their website has a list of instrumentals you can vote for. I looked up this list, grumbling to myself "Bet Clog Dance won't be on there." But it was. Happily munching my words, I voted for Mik and the boys.

Casey Kasem's American Top 40 from August 15th, 1981, is being rebroadcast by Premiere Radio Networks this weekend, "Now on with the countdown, #33, leaping 6 notches on American Top 40 to #33, here's the 17th Top 40 hit by ELO, Hold On Tight...ELO, the English act on American Top 40 and there are 5 of 'em this week, Hold On Tight, their 2nd week on the chart, moving from #39 to 33, 6 big notches, as the countdown continues" After hearing "Hold On Tight" on American Top 40's Mighty 690 AM Radio Show back around August 1981 while with family near Ventura, California, a U.S. Route 101 road trip to Santa Barbara's Mission when I was just 8 years old, Dad then bought me my very first Electric Light Orchestra album from Tower Records, an audio cassette of Time by ELO, thus started the fandom 40 years ago! PS-I really wanted a release of Time's 2 LP more than ever for sentimental reasons as Dad died on April 7th, 2020, not COVID, but collateral damage of it.

Casey Kasem's American Top from August 20th, 1983 was rebroadcast by Premiere Radio Networks last weekend... "Now we're up to the English band who formed in the industrial town of Birmingham back in 1970, their first Top 40 hit in 1975 was, Can't Get It Out of My Head, their biggest so far was in 1979, it hit #4, Don't Bring Me Down, and their latest climbs two notches this week to #19, here's, Rock 'n' Roll Is King, by ELO"

Just switched on Boom Radio and heard Mr Blue Sky.
The presenter remarked that hearing ELO always reminded her of Jeff Lynne and the Travelling Wilburys. She went on to name each of the supergroup's members.
Must be one of the few times Jeff's come first on the "Wilbury List".

Another visit to Tesco Nailsea ,North Somerset UK. Always playing ELO or related. This instance Sweet talking Woman. Now, l like to think l know my way round a supermarket after one tour. But accidentally directing the OH to the wrong end of the store didn't go down very well. Put it this way, this Woman was not talking sweetly!....ps, Bacardi was on offer.

Boom Radio was playing The Diary Of Horace Wimp just as I left home this morning.
Sadly, I didn't hear him getting his date. But I was cheering him on with "you can do it..."

^ Team Jeff, you're 3 weeks late, Don't Bring Me Down by Electric Light Orchestra debuted on Billboard's Hot 100 at #41 for the week ending August 4th, 1979, also, your audio doesn't match that label!

It was released in the UK on the 24th (unusual to have an earlier date for the US?)
