I found it during my bootlegs searches and even if JFSD has never heard it, then it must be quite weird. (Link: www.you tube.com/watch?v=SQqcggd22MM)

(Link: www.you tube.com/watch?v=SQqcggd22MM) Another live recording that could be cleaned up and released for ELO fans. But that won't happen because Jeff won't allow these kinds of recordings to be made public.

By his own admission, Rob Porter hasn't been maintaining his database too much lately, and that includes a lot of the recent finds that have made their way into wider circulation. (On that note, there might be a few other surprises coming very soon from a new batch of unearthed audience recordings, but more on this later, hopefully.)
In terms of a possible official release of live material, we don't even have to necessarily look to less than ideal sources. Regular touring crew member Brian "HQ" Jones apparently made tapes of every show he was involved with right off the mixing desk, though it remains to be seen what is left of his archive. No such mono soundboards surfaced when other memorabilia found its way to auction, but it's possible he only made these recordings for personal or band reference, with each tape reused for the next show. Then again, we know that Pete King of After The Fire learned ELO's setlist from such recordings in the middle of the European leg of the Time Tour when Bev temporarily dropped out, so there's hope at least that could still be acquired - I would assume he'd keep this as a memento of the opportunity to join a headline group, though I've no idea whether his estate would know where to look for that.
Anyway, the point is that we should never say never. Who knows what else might find its way out next from the most unlikely of places?

Anyway, the point is that we should never say never. Who knows what else might find its way out next from the most unlikely of places? Hope springs eternal. But no one, the least of all Jeff, is getting younger. And with the passing of each former member and associated technical folks involved with the live concerts of ELO, the harder it will be to get such items released through estates of the deceased. And if Jeff is buying up those soundboard recordings (and excellent audience recordings), then that is consistent with his evident belief that he doesn't want the original ELO to have no more visibility than it has now. Why would he want to release concerts that show the skills of the string section? Mik's and Hugh's solos? Beyond what has been officially released for the 74 and 78 shows.
Bev is occasionally touring in the UK, and I wish someone would ask him for his perspective on the live ELO archive.

Interesting find, albeit very rough. It would take A LOT of cleaning up to make that sound good,so maybe it's best left as a bootleg.

With the technology available these days, it wouldn't take that much, just look at 'Free As A Bird' and how rough that initially sounded (and that was 30 years ukago) I will berate Jeff yet again for his attitude towards the live archive material and his refusal to release anything. Yes I know he is a perfectionist and quite rightly, if it's a duff recording or show then leave it hidden. BUT.... there must be an absolute ton of stuff that would pass muster. Like lawrev says, Jeff isn't getting any younger and he can't take the stuff with him when the time comes.....

With the advancements in technology, and given that Jeff is a genius, I'm sure he could clean up such soundboard recordings. The people who attended those shows in the 70s are still alive and would love to purchase such concerts. Look at the Stones - I just received their Live at The Wiltern cd/dvd package, and that is part of their long standing effort to release concerts from each major tour (or as close thereto) since the early 70s.
The Stones can do it, I'm sure that Jeff could. If he WANTS to.
I like my rock n roll raw. Wasn't that the original purpose of the genre?

I remember buying a bootleg of the Time tour (namely the Ingliston show), it's of extremely poor quality sound wise, how I'd love a proper recording of this. Maybe it's possible to 'clean' this up somehow? Sorry for going off topic elver, this is a great find and who knows what else is out there.
