Today is the anniversary of Kelly's passing. RIP to a fantastic bassist and singer, and a joker on tour.

A lovely bloke! I remember an ELO II gig in Shepherd's Bush. Queuing along the side of the theatre, along comes Kelly in his leather cowboy hat chatting and laughing with everyone. Soooooo glad I got to see him many times in Bev's ELO band. Gone - NEVER forgotten

Soooooo glad I got to see him many times in Bev's ELO band. Gone - NEVER forgotten I met him in 2006 and had a nice chat with him before a show in Illinois. After he passed, Bev said that Kelly really blossomed into a frontman, but for those of us who saw him with ELO on tour - that skill was always quite obvious. As you say, gone but never forgotten.

It was 15 years ago, 2/19/2009-2/19/2024, but on a Thursday, after American Renolit laid me off, when I came home to find out that Kelly Groucutt, bass player of my all-time favorite band, Electric Light Orchestra, had tragically died from a heart attack at only 63 years old, then no In Memoriam tribute for him by The Recording Academy / GRAMMYs in 2010 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snubbed him in 2016-2017, along with his son Chris Groucutt dead just over 7 years ago now.
