Hi All,
With all the news about the Hall vs. Oates lawsuit, it got me thinking about a happier H&O topic - opening for ELO on the Time Tour in North America in 1981. Has anybody ever heard Jeff or Bev speak about this arrangement, and whether they commingled with the H&O band before or after a show? What they thought about H&O live in concert, or what H&O thought about ELO's sets?
I haven't read anything either from the H&O side of the fence. Just curious about this pairing.

I don't remember the source, but about 20 years ago I read an interview with Jeff Lynne from the mid-80's where he named Hall & Oates as one of his favorite "current" bands, along with A-ha and some others I can't remember off the top of my head.
Fast forward to 1988 when Jeff, George and Tom were doing an interview with MTV during a break in the making of the video for the Wilburys End Of The Line. George talks about who could and couldn't be Wilburys.

Bev addressed this subject in his book. ELO as individuals were a pretty private bunch and had very little if anything to do with their support acts. Consequently they were not popular with those bands. This was written in 1980 so I doubt much had changed by '81.

I think that ShardEnder previously mentioned that part of the reason that Bev wrote/finished his book was because he didn't have much to do in 1980 (ELO wasn't touring and Xanadu as a project didn't take that much time for his role).
