Just been catching up on old Top Of The Pops shows and one in particular from September 1980 has ONJ on it being asked about Xanadu. She says in the interview that she has to be at the premier of the film in London in a few hours (the US premier was in August),which means that the 3 big hits by ELO and Magic by ONJ had all been released prior to this and only Don't Walk Away was yet to be released. Was it delayed in anyway? it just seems odd that the film was released so long after the hits had been done.

I’m not sure, according to the JLELO website the album was released on August 8th 1980. So were many of the songs released as singles before the album came out.

Normally only one or occasionally two songs are released prior to an albums release, but four?

*Apparently* there was an early release of the OST with completely different artwork which was then withdrawn and replaced with the one we all know now. If you have a copy, it is worth a lot of money, as a rarity.
