My request:write a song in the style of Jeff Lynne with chords.
Verse 1: D G Walking down the avenue D G Thinking 'bout the things we used to do Bm A Memories they flood my mind G A And I wish that we could go back in time
Chorus: D G Oh, how I miss those days D G When we laughed and loved in so many ways Bm A But now you're gone and I'm all alone G A Trying to find my way back home
Verse 2: D G Looking up at the starry sky D G Wondering if you're up there, way up high Bm A The world keeps turning day by day G A But in my heart, you'll always stay
Chorus: D G Oh, how I miss those days D G When we laughed and loved in so many ways Bm A But now you're gone and I'm all alone G A Trying to find my way back home
Bridge: Bm G But I won't give up, no I won't give in D A I'll keep on searching 'til the very end Bm G And someday soon, I know we'll be D A Together again, you and me
Chorus: D G Oh, how I miss those days D G When we laughed and loved in so many ways Bm A But now you're gone and I'm all alone G A Trying to find my way back home
Outro: D G Walking down the avenue D G Thinking 'bout the things we used to do Bm A Memories they flood my mind G A And I wish that we could go back in time.

A.I. seems to be taking off. I'm expecting a remake of Cyrano, where no Cyrano is needed. The inarticulate guy just asks his ChatBot to write love letters to Roxane - and perhaps set them to music. And it works, until he loses his phone.
Me: "ChatBot" please write me a musical comedy remake of "Cyrano de Bergerac" with songs in the style of Jeff Lynne. ChatBot: "here you go, I call it "Roxanne don't live here anymore".

I subscribe to Colin Meloy from the band The Decemberists on Substack, and he asked the AI to write a song in the style of his band. While it has the basics down, Colin made the good point that one of the things the AI lacks is the intuition to know when a song needs improved or re-written in parts.

Will someone be so kind and perform ChatGPT's song for the musically impaired forumheads here?

While somewhat sparse by Lynne's standards (despite his work's typically-melodic orientation), the lyrical phrasing here is surprisingly close to the genuine article; my main recommendation for improvement would be the addition of references to rain and/or communication technology (presumably either a telephone or satellite) to bolster the 70s/80s ELO resemblance.

So, I asked it to write a song in the style of Electric Light Orchestra. Behold this masterpiece...
Verse 1:
G D
Out in the darkness, I see your light
Em C
Guiding me through the longest night
G D
Your neon glow keeps me in sight
Em C
Taking me higher like a satellite
Pre-Chorus:
Am C
And in this world of endless sound
Am C
You're the one that brings me 'round
Chorus:
G D
Electric love, shining bright
Em C
A million watts in the dead of night
G D
Electric love, you make it right
Em C
Taking me higher, to the edge of light
Verse 2:
G D
I feel the current, flowing through my veins
Em C
The power of your love, like a hurricane
G D
I can't resist, your magnetic pull
Em C
You light up my world, like a shooting star
Pre-Chorus:
Am C
And in this world of endless sound
Am C
You're the one that brings me 'round
Chorus:
G D
Electric love, shining bright
Em C
A million watts in the dead of night
G D
Electric love, you make it right
Em C
Taking me higher, to the edge of light
Bridge:
Em D
I never knew love like this before
C G
But now I'm hooked, forevermore
Em D
I feel the power of your embrace
C G
And I know I'll never leave this place
Chorus:
G D
Electric love, shining bright
Em C
A million watts in the dead of night
G D
Electric love, you make it right
Em C
Taking me higher, to the edge of light
Outro:
G D
Electric love, shining bright
Em C
A million watts in the dead of night
G D
Electric love, you make it right
Em C
Taking me higher, to the edge of light
I'm gonna try this one on guitar. The only thing is, I'll have to come up with a vocal melody. This could be fun.

Time to open up garageband and give it a go methinks! So I've more or less finished the backing track . I just have to add some vocals ( I have a horrid singing voice) and tidy up some duff notes. I've taken the liberty of changing the chord structure a bit in the chorus and turned the bridge into a third verse. Mrs nickheynes is getting her hair and nails done on Saturday so I'll have all day to play around with it ( Yes it does take her that long!)
