Welcome to the new poll of 2023, over the next weeks/month we will find the best album cover from sixty I've selected, as this is an ELO board the bands albums will be well represented. The first twelve rounds will have five covers go head to head with the top two moving on, you may vote for your two favourites. YOU CAN VOTE FOR TWO COVERS The Clash London Calling Boston Boston Human League Dare ELO Eldorado OMD OMITD

When my dear aunt and uncle bought me a present - the Xanadu elpee - in 1980 it had an insert listing various bits of Xanadu merchandise. It also showed the covers of previous ELO albums. I hadn't seen many before, and when I saw Eldorado I said to myself - "WOW!!! I HAVE to have that!"

London Calling is iconic but I hate the font used, almost comic. Boston have the 2nd best spaceship as a logo. Dare is another iconic cover, OMD is so simplistic its brilliant and Eldorado is my 2nd favourite ELO album SO....... My 2 choices are Dare and OMITD (love Eldorado but like Bev, I dislike the cover....)

I only found out a couple of years ago that the Boston space ship was an upside down guitar… went with Eldorado and Dare just edged out OMD. Trying not to be biased towards ELO here but I genuinely always liked the Eldorado cover. Good choices to start with Horace.

I only found out a couple of years ago that the Boston space ship was an upside down guitar… Ooo, how interesting! Would have voted Boston anyway, but now it's a no-brainer. Plus Eldorado, natch

I only found out a couple of years ago that the Boston space ship was an upside down guitar… Ooo, how interesting! Would have voted Boston anyway, but now it's a no-brainer. Plus Eldorado, natch It's two votes, Uno! Eldorado and Boston. The other 2 have nothing going on, graphically speaking. P.S.: many years ago I signed up for a list that works like this: companies in different brands of industry hire other companies that make surveys with a group of people from the list that meets certain requirements (age, gender, geographical location, profession, income, etc...) so from time to time I participate in videocalls of about one to two hours where a host presents to us several different marketing options for a new product or a rebrand (for example logo, packaging, name, label, etc...) and we give them live feedback on what our impressions are and what the best choices would be for us. Usually some time later the product comes out, or the company opens or rebrands, following the feedback that the majority of us invitees has given. I'm telling you this because this contest suddenly felt a lot like that, haha.

It's actually quite difficult to separate your feelings about an individual cover from your opinion of the contents! Trying to be objective then, I'm still going for ELO as I (just about) remember its great impact on me when it came out. My other choice is Dare as it has a sense of clean simplicity to it.
