The vinyl album has been out of print for sometime and consequently attracts a surprisingly high sale price, there are some on Discogs but again very expensive and sent from Hong Kong so personally I would be wary of purchasing them. It is the most expensive LP I have listed on my Discogs account, I think I should consider listing my copy on the house contents insurance policy It’s about time it was reissued.

I just checked Zoom out on Discogs and had NO idea. I've Zoom in black and white vinyl. Opened, but never played.

I'm shocked at the asking price for the LP, but then again I wouldn't have purchased it anyway back then. I remember reading that Zoom sold 75,000 copies during the first six months of its release. JL has said publicly that Craig Fruin never told him why the tour was cancelled, for fear of depressing him (JL), and those sales figures illustrate why. But in a reverse way, that makes the album worth more now (aside from being out of print).

Between the reissues via Frontiers and Let Them Eat Vinyl, plus its appearance on streaming platforms along with being in Sony's Original Album Classics 5CD set, I'm fairly confident that Zoom has sold more now than it ever did over the course of 2001. However, Jeff's decision to exclusively license this as a limited 2LP release backfired in two ways. First of all, scalpers have taken advantage of the situation, freezing most collectors out of ever being able to acquire this version legitimately. Also, considering how the few pressing plants left now make only the most mainstream of titles their production priority and a certain audiophile label still reeling from the recent revelation that its sources weren't quite as once claimed for the last 15 years or so, there's little chance of the Zoom situation changing any time soon. The only solution I can see would be if Sony committed to a set covering the entire ELO catalogue in this format, and such a thing is unlikely to be greenlit when the first run of that initial singles box can still be found sealed through online retailers, suggesting it never sold out.
