This has always been one of my favourite ELO songs and certainly the best on FTM (IMHO). So it was interesting to find this Top of the Pops performance (from 75?) as I didn't know or had forgotten it was a single as it seems a strange choice for one and much more a fave album track. Certainly the audience seem to be having a hard time dancing to it but Kelly has a nice green trouser suit. Jeff, in the live version from '76, also seems to drop to a lower register and key change to manage it.

I really like Nightrider, too.

Only recently I saw the TOTP performance, they did bring out "Nightrider" on vinyl at the time. It was blue plastic moulded labels Jet 769 with Daybreaker on side "B". I think they used the cello part off Evil Woman and played it backwards on Nightrider?

I had heard the opposite that Jeff wrote Evil Woman at the last minute when recording the FTM album and used the cello part from Nightrider backwards on the track!

Nice find! Where is the live version from? On Youtube it only says ("Live fusion 1976"). Was that a tv show, or what?

"Jeff, in the live version from '76, also seems to drop to a lower register and key change to manage it." Same key, same notes - but his voice sounds a bit battered...
