Jeff sounded fantastic and it was good to see the crowd show him appreciation.
Just one question--why was John Mayer doing Buddy Holly cosplay during that song with Ed Sheeran?

I think Jeff was sent to give a "message" to Sam Smith, from Tom Petty. Not sure if the rumor is true that he sent Tom a text message saying "Sam Smith sleeps with the fishes".

Well it was short but sweet, very well executed. I guess we can't complain about any Jeff Lynne live appearances a few years ago you never would predict he would play at The Grammys.

I agree it was short and sweet. Texted my brothers "Hey ELO is about to be on the grammys, and one of my brothers texted back that he turned them on and said they sounded fantastic." Yeah, Jeff really nailed the "Mr. Blue Sky" guitar solo, I was thinking if I was him even if I played that one a million times, I might be nervous that I get nervous and might mess it up, since its a worldwide performance.
I agree that John Mayer did a good job on the song he played guitar on, and now that mentioned, maybe he was trying to look like Buddy Holly, who knows.
Thought Annie Lennox really brought down the house with "Put a Spell on You". Whoever the guy after who looked up and said something like "I'm your servant" at the end of his performance, was pretty good, then I went to bed. Part of me was curious to see Macca, but I had a very strong feeling it would be something boring, and it probably was from what I get from here.
Can honestly say if I didn't know Jeff was going to perform there from hearing you guys mention it here, my interest in watching any of it would have been zip, zero, nada.

Julianna Raye, whose debut album Jeff produced, wrote these very kind words on Facebook after Jeff's Grammy appearance.
"This guy played a huge role in my life. Having him as my producer was like going to recording artist boot camp. Having him as my editor taught me how to write a pop song. At the time we met, grunge was peaking and ELO was out of fashion. Nice to see it all come around..."

Whilst I do not share a fondness for Ed Sheerans music, I feel that he should be really thanked for helping His Lord Damey bring the most incredible music to the "musically starved" millions. Quite Frankly it truly is a dream come true for me as a monstrous fanatic! The rest or the "artists" (Gimps) in the crowd other than McCartney of course are merely standing on the shoulders of giants. It was a room full of "marketing slaves, over rated, untalented fools" except for a handful of amazing ARTISTS. Jeffs Facebook had the general consensus correct! And I will back this by typing the following statement that seems to convey the status quo of most of the bloggers.....JEFF WAS AMAZING, I WOULDN'T HAVE BOTHERED WATCHING THIS CRAP ONLY FOR JEFF AND CO! YEAHHHH!

Jeff looked more comfortable up there than I had expected him to.
It was fun seeing Taylor Swift and the girls from Haim grooving to Mr. Blue Sky. Just proves that not every person under 40 has bad taste in music lol.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that Jeff's first appearance at the Grammys since 1990, when he was nominated for the Wilbury and Tom Petty albums?

Sorry I'm late, just watched it. I agree about how relaxed and confident Damey looked, maybe seeing all that positive feedback from the crowd helped. Mind you, some of the audience were boringly stoney-faced, how can anyone possibly resist a show like that though? I thought the two of them sang well together too, shame it was all over so quickly. Hopefully there will have been a lot of praise coming Jeff's way from his peers which will only encourage him to get out and tour, yay!

Roll on the new material and tour! Whats really exciting is that Damey also revealed a vol. 2 of re re recorded material inc.".I'm Alive" during the "very best of" sessions in '12! You can hear the ommission on youtube if you go to "Bungalow sessions part 2" I think? He's showing off his wall of disks and being interviewed. ....exciting stuff being a Lynnite!

Mind you, some of the audience were boringly stoney-faced, how can anyone possibly resist a show like that though? That was during "Evil woman", as would have been with any other ELO song... except for which one? Yeah, you guessed... Mr. Blue Sky! As soon as Jeff started playing that one everyone got up on their feet and started to dance. Fuck, I hate that. Jeff Lynne is a fucking genius, people, Mr. Blue Sky is nothing... you don't realize!
