May Jim Seals rest in peace! My all-time favorite songs by Seals & Crofts are... Summer Breeze (1972) Hummingbird (1973) Diamond Girl (1973) We May Never Pass This Way (Again) (1973) I'll Play for You (Hear the Band) (1975) Get Closer (1976) featuring Carolyn Willis "This is Casey on American Top 40 and now, the first Top 40 hit by a duo from Texas, one of whom won the Texas state fiddle championship when he was only 9 years old, now that wasn't any junior class competition it was open to all comers and, he was competing against violinists, of all ages, his name is Jim Seals and he tells this story, when he was 4 years old he fell in love with the fiddle music he heard pretty often, when his grandpa's country music group came to his house for hoedowns, and he talked his grandpa into ordering a fiddle for him, from the Sears Catalog, but when it arrived, it was a big shock to this little kid that he couldn't play the instrument, and he was so frustrated that he hid it under the bed for a whole year, until one night he said, he dreamed that he could play, and when he awoke, he decided to give it another try, he picked up his fiddle, and found that he could play, so he studied and practiced, and got pretty good, and 4 years later, when he was 9 years old, he took his fiddle to Athens, Texas, and walked away with the state fiddle championship in 1952, 20 years later Jim Seals and his partner Dash Crofts have their first Top 40 hit, at #11, here's Summer Breeze..." - Casey Kasem's American Top 40 from December 9th, 1972

when I hear Summer Breeze, I'm instantly transported back to the river swimming beach where I spent so many teenage days iconic '70s tunes

Another legendary musician passes on, I've never been much into Seals and Crofts but who hasn't ever heard Summer Breeze and felt instantly uplifted? RIP Jim
