Hello, there! There was this song of mine I wanted to record but I felt I needed to add some '70s rock spirit to it. So what could I do to help that? Well, I went to ask for the collaboration of two artists (or one artist, if you consider they are both heads of the same monster) who lived through those times and have the '70's essence in their blood: unomusette and BSJ. Negotiations were hard and about to fail, but after threatening to burn their computers with my hacking abilities (something which, BTW, I am completely unable to do), they accepted to be my guest artists, with Uno playing bass on an acoustic guitar and BSJ on percussion. They did a fantastic job in my opinion, and the result is this song titled " We are being attacked": www.dropbox.com/s/wtzlp498o9v5ui9/Helmut%20%26%20Two-Headed%20Monster%20-%20We%20are%20being%20attacked.mp3?dl=0Personnel: + BevSJ: tambourine, snare, refried beans can. + Unobassette: bassline, special effects (cat squeezing).

Uno starts with the bass at 1:12, right after the cat screams. BSJ plays that "cowbell" (the peas can) you can hear at the beginning and on a couple of other parts, as well as the tambourine that has a patch.

What an impressive tune, well done to the three of you. Blast I wish I had copyrighted animal noises in songs I would be a millionaire by now. Some great percussion playing BSJ and I didn't know you could play guitar Uno, you kept that quiet Any clues on what the backwards lyrics say at the end, I've nothing I know of that can reverse play MP3s. Is the song to star on Jim's forum CD?

What an impressive tune, well done to the three of you. Blast I wish I had copyrighted animal noises in songs I would be a millionaire by now. Thanks, Horace! You know, later on I'm going to tell you something about the animal noises... I didn't know you could play guitar Uno, you kept that quiet Yeah, Uno's too humble. I wonder how many other instruments she knows how to play and she doesn't say anything. However, it's more like bass what she played there, only on a guitar but it was the bassline. Any clues on what the backwards lyrics say at the end, I've nothing I know of that can reverse play MP3s. That's a little tribute to Jeff. At the beginning, what they say is: - Uno: "concentrate". - BSJ: "I'm all nervous". At the end it is: - BSJ: "chatty Catty you are!". - Uno: "see what you think". Is the song to star on Jim's forum CD? Yeah, we thought so. Given that we are on the subject, jrmugz, we would like to postulate this song for your CD if you agree.

I've only listen on my iPad so the speaker isn't great, I'll have a better chance tomorrow to check out all the little intricacies of the song and production.

I wouldn't listen too closely, HW, then you'd realise I'm humble for a very good reason hehe. Top marks to Helmut83 for writing the song in the first place and of course to BSJ who is the queen of the cowbells and lots more besides Glad you spotted the backwards messages, an obvious idea-steal from Damey but I somehow think he'd approve smiley-cool15

Need also write that Helmut made the process as painless as possible with making us drum tracks, video of him instructing (squeezing the cat was a tricky one, eh Uno?)and answering a massive amount of questions! We burned the PM out with all the back and forth posts. He really did a great job! And I bought my first musical instrument - a tambourine! Poor tk6! In fact he was my "engineer" by holding the phone and turning the sound on and off! Big thanks to him! BevSJ

Oh, yes, big thanks to the Sound Engineer tk6 and Mr. Musette for helping along with the recording process. And BSJ, I can't wait to work with you again either. Now there should be no excuses, next time I want you playing bass and drums/percussion for Electric Animal Orchestra.

Oh, yes, big thanks to the Sound Engineer tk6 and Mr. Musette for helping along with the recording process. Much as I adore Mr Musette, he's really not due any praise here except for having a plectrum which I stole to create my amazing bassline. Recording was all my own work, using Helmut's backing track and my trusty laptop BlackStar. The mind boggles at the sort of thing we might produce, now BSJ and I have some confidence - beware! Or join in, of course

Thanks for the praises you two, but to be fair, I thought it would be much more work with you. You understood it quite quickly. And the drums track was the same I used to record my instruments.
Doesn't the guitar belong to Mr. Musette? Didn't he at least give you some encouraging word while you were on the process?
Next time we are doing a song written by you two!

Hmm, well he didn't run away screaming when he heard me practising. There may have been some suppressed sniggers though. And he did offer to get his professional bass player friend to do it instead of me, the cheek of it! I can write lots of songs, as long as they mostly include sound effects and random noises. Actual tunes? In my dreams, hargh!
